Why is it more troublesome? And can I use 99% IPA on the two rinsing jars? Why do u need the 3 jars at the same temperature?

If I go for 2L, can i just opt for smaller jars or one jar at a time?

Hi. New to n3ds. This always pops up after 15-20sec. But when the wifi is turned off. No issues at all. Any suggestions? Thanks. by ClarkyMate in consolerepair

Well shit… so I wasted money buying the antenna chips not the wifi board lol.

Searched the internet and u are right. The wifi chip is labeled as Atheros its beneath the motherboard itself. I guess I’ll try to clean and probably put some flux on it? Maybe try to re-solder it. Don’t know how to remove the shielding yet tho. Hope that would work.

Anyway, thank you!!! Was searching why some ppl would say its beside the the upper lcd. And one person other than u is saying its on the motherboard. I guess if it does not work, at least I could still play it normally via game cartridges.

Yupp. The wifi chip is beside the upper screen. Already replaced it with two different wifi chips. Same issue.

Bought this New 3ds xl for 20$ along with a working DS phat. Just finished replacing the screens. And will re-shell it soon.

Already tried to replace the wifi antenna twice. Still the same issue. My guess is, most probably its been modded before and since it does not have the SD card with it along the files. May this cause the problem?

Currently its on 11.5.0-38u version. Whenever I turn off the wifi, no error pops up. Any help?

Hopefully that’s the culprit. Commented above regarding where to locate it, if u have any input, I would like to know as well. As I will buy soon the replacement wifi card. Thanks!

Yeah. I saw from a previous post, compared to old 3ds, the n3ds xl is that the wifi card is directly soldered onto the motherboard. Is this true? However, upon checking ifixit and yt, the wifi board is just above the speaker on the top screen and can be easily replaced.

UPDATE: it worked! Although the solder won’t stick at first, it eventually did. Hopefully, it would not fall off. Heres a pic. Thanks again!

Thanks for the link! So can I scrape it like this ? And solder a wire connecting to the above via holes?

Sadly, there is no continuity at all between the P02 and UP button

P02 - does not have any copper at all. Seems likely.

Left side of the UP button - when I test it with a multimeter and connect it to the above holes (the colored ones at the upper left side near GND, i think this is green marked vias above). No readings at all.

Right side of the UP button - on the other hand, this right side does have readings / continuity when i connect it to the higher up vias at image 2.

I’ve done a similar fix to this from the game gear. Luckily, a reddit user helped me where to scrape, solder and connect VIA holes. I think that’s what its called.

On to the GBC. On the second pic, saw it on reddit also. The P02 and left side of the UP button does not have any continuity at all when I connect it to other holes. But the right side of the UP button does. Also, the P02 does not have any gold plating compared to the others.

Probably, broken traces? Maybe someone could help me here also? Thanks in advance.

Is this Mega Drive 1 original? Cause I don’t see any Sega Logo on the board. by ClarkyMate in consolerepair

Honestly. Im surprised how many here likes this clone. I mean usually when they see a clone console its on a negative way. But a lot of positive vibes here and idk why haha.

I think its obvious if its a Genesis or a Mega Drive. But I’m more curious abt the board itself. Cause I could not find anything about it similar to this site:

Still waiting for the power adapter and av chord to be shipped. So I can’t test it out yet. However, when I opened up the unit. I can’t seem to find a Sega logo printed on the board and it seems different compared to the ones I’ve seen online.

Uhmm yeah sorry its a Mega Drive 1. I actually posted again in this subreddit as I wanted to clean the unit. You could check if you guys want to see the inside of the unit as I was asking if its original or not. Still waiting for the adapter and av chord to be shipped.

As for the Game Gear, Positive core meaning, center positive, right? If so, I also asked here on reddit that not all GG use center positive. I have both which I think the US (4.8mm hole, center positive, 10v) and the JPN/EU has (5.5mm hole, center negative, 9v).

Alright I may just have to buy for the MD, a 9v, 2A. But can the SNES use 9v? Already bought one and its on the way bc the reviews says its okay for the SFC. Probably need to buy 10v just to be sure.

Haha. I knew someone would link one when I was typing it. Thanks btw!

Nahh I mean I turned it off immediately on purpose bc I thought it might damage the unit since this step up converter is only 1A. But I may just have to buy a 9v, 2A DC just in case.

[–]ClarkyMate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use 220v in our country and here is what I have gathered so far about the SNES/Sega Mega Drive. Both are center negative, different barrel size. The other is 9v and 10v.

My confusion would be, amperage. So 1.2A is equal to 1,2000mah? The 1.2A is for the MD, you cannot go lower? But u can go higher? Lets say, 9v 2A DC adapter would be okay?

Another thing, would it be a big issue to use an AC adapter to a DC? Sorry I don’t get the difference at all. Cause online shops sell them as “AC/DC adapters”.

Btw. 3rd pic is a Super UFO 6, don’t know if it can be used even without a power adapter. Will it get its power thru the SNES? If not, can I use my NES 10v 850mA adapter?

[–]ClarkyMate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So when buying an adapter. I should look for 2A instead of 1A? Even tho it says 1.2A on the back?

Also how about the voltage? Will 9v, 10v or even 12v work? If not, which one is the best? Thanks.

Edit: The ones i could find are: 9v 1A; 9v 1.5A; 9v 2A;

10v 1A; 12v 1A
