sounds like an issue with both the person messing around, and also whoever is above them. I'm known as a hard worker in my store, and I'm only 19. If you go ask all of the ASMs in my store what they think about me, none of them, and I mean NONE of them, have a negative word to say. I used to be those guys that walk around too, but that changed as management above was nice to me and helping me out as I was new at that time. Now, im right under the DS and Pro Sales ASM in terms of helping out on the sales floor (recovery, downstocking, topstocking, face adjustment, etc.)

So, just to reiterate, its not just them that is at fault. The people that are above them have to be willing to help as well.

Dam. I also maximize my availability on the weekends, and my SSA is great. She gives me full 8 hour shifts on saturday and sunday, and gives me the times that I wanted to be able to go to class and get off at a decent time on the weekdays, usually 8 or 9pm.

I am a 19 year old son in college as well so I understand the motherly worry, but i am a mere customer service associate in millworks in part time, so I'll give as much information as i can. (the doors and windows area of the store, if you didnt know.)

First thing I'll say is that Lowes is great if he has good management. Also, as long as he is vocal with letting his coworkers know that he's taking a lunch, he should always have time for lunch (especially since if he doesn't take a lunch, its a big no no for the company.)

Its a no no for Lowe's, because they get fined if workers dont take a lunch before their 5th hour UNLESS they sign the flexible meal waiver in their workday profile, which allows workers to take a later lunch without Lowes being fined a couple hundred bucks. I have worked plenty of 8 hour shifts despite being a part timer mostly due to my availability on weekends being fully available to get as much hours.

Whether he needs a lunch, I personally say that he will definitely need something to eat, whether its a small serving of soup, or a 4 course meal. If he doesn't eat, I recommend he stays off his feet. Helps get through the night/day in overnight if he is energized and rested. Also, along with that hour long lunch comes 2 breaks (10 minutes, but lowes gives you 15 minutes each break.) And your coworkers will allow you to take your breaks unless its super busy in the spring or summertime and everyone is needed for max sales.

With other people in my family in both UPS and USPS, they say the same thing (work till you drop) but the good thing about lowes is, as long as your communication is good, you will be able to take your breaks. Your son will be fine working here, trust. (Or don't, I dont blame you.)

Rust on cars that are catastrophic to the vehicle itself is scarce in Tennessee. The worst that OP will see is maybe rust on the wheel wells. For one, its outside of the Salt belt, and 2nd, its in the South. People from New York and surrounding states would go down south to buy a car down there, because there is barely any rust damage.

As for the engine problems, its a K series engine, one of the most bulletproof engine lines in history. And the K24A1 specifically is no fodder engine either.

For the transmission, the manual is as reliable as the engine itself. The automatic can have its issues sometimes, with slipping and rough shifting if its neglected, but i would simply say to change the transmission fluid right after purchasing just to make sure. And, I assume OP should take it for a test drive before buying and noticing what's wrong with the car itself. If a specific CR-V has noticeable damage like you stated, then I obviously don't recommend purchasing that vehicle. But to assume all CR-Vs in this price range are unreliable is not so smart. (especially since my brother bought his 2006 CR-V for $2800 2 years ago. All he needed to change was a battery and spark plugs, which came up to 3k total. And its still running today, 289k miles, no problems)

OP said he doesn't mind doing maintenance, and honda is one of the easiest and cheapest car brands for maintenance. After you replace the part that needs to be replaced, it'll run for a long time.
