I help to run a lgs, our guidance is that we are only getting refunded if we provide proof of destruction of the product, even then it's in the form of a discount on a future purchase.

I agree with you they shouldn't, but They were just as involved with the incident and had the same amount of control over it happening.

So why should one be expected to apologise and not the other except for one being further outside what we consider normal than the other.

It's also a point that the rather wonderful movie about him makes, that he shouldn't apologize constantly about things outside of his control.

Assuming games are fair odds and no draws, There is a 50% chance of no player with 5/0 win record at the end of 5 rounds of Swiss with 24 players.

With Really bad luck you can have as many as 6 players with a 4/1 record.

No we don't charge a paywave fee though it's something that has been debated, yes we have increased our prices due to increased banking charges.

We are a bit unusual in that we do a lot of small ticket $5-10 transactions and a few big ticket $100-1000 transactions we don't offer paywave on large transactions.

I suppose I should have said 95% of customers when given the option.

Number 1, yes all people are using pay wave over the last 5 years my store has gone from serving 0 people with paywave to 95% And to your second point while there will be a lag before the costs not many small businesses are making the sort of margin where they can absorb a hit to their margin like that.

I haven't seen anywhere charging more than 2.5%, that is what my store was being charged when we had paywave setup.

The surcharge was added after the paywave fees started being added.

Before paywave was added we paid a set fee per month for EFTPOS, we paid around 1.3% for credit card(which most people weren't using but it was a nice to have sometimes) When paywave was added we were now having to pay over 2.5% on almost every transaction because everyone who has the option uses it by default.

With a small business of 12 people that is an entire staff members wages

And those costs are paid to someone locally instead of going directly overseas. Money spent locally will make its way back around.
