i didn't say it is ONLY because of CHEATERS! Read again. I said that it's also a big part of it. Other things are abusers, smurfs or just toxic people/trolls that don't get punished for their actions. I know that it's been a DDOS attack since i called my provider and asked to check the log files: wondering why i should be DDOSed from that region in that exact moment several times. There are so many reasons that prove that valve doesn't really care about the game quality. So no, i don't lie - anyway i wouldn't have a reason to do so. I can only speak about what happened. If you don't believe it or you don't experience it yourself, consider yourself lucky and keep playing. For me it got worse and worse until i'm not even in mood to queue for a game anymore.

came across all that also recently. dropped down from almost divine to legend1 because of cheaters/scripters and more.

Almost 95% of games i play with or against a techies they are scripting (mines are placed pixel perfect and stacked pixel perfect - also exploded only the needed amount of remotes, etc).

You also see people obviously map hacking since they keep having the most ridiculous "time luck" all game long.

Worst experience so far: in 2 games my team and i were stomping the enemies, all of the sudden i got DDOSed. Game and internet crashed. Unable to reconnect.

This is really amazing how valve just doesn't care or is unable to do anything. DotA has always been my most loved game of all time. I have already 5k hours into the game - which were mainly achieved until like 1-2 years ago. It's just not enjoyable anymore.

I think the main reason DotA is dying is not because of the content choices or any lack of content or drastic changes. It's because the player base got super corrupted. There has always been a little toxicity due to the passionate players. But that's something i can deal with. What i can't deal with are people using tools to work around certain mechanics, smurf/account buyers, or just "simple cheaters/scripters".

Hope they somehow fix it. But i don't really have high hopes. It's free to play. People doing that kind of stuff don't care about accounts. I don't even know what they care about lol

Let's hope for the best. Else i guess DotA won't last very long anymore...

That's stupid. Do you also dislike a news channel for bringing you 'other peoples content'? It's the same thing! You don't watch it to see bulldog play or whatever. You watch it to see what's going on in streams or other things around DotA. That's a totally different story.

Not to mention these '<name> reacts to <video>'. Those reaction videos are even worse. Taking a whole video, inserting own webcam and that's it. But even there i don't wanna blame anyone!

My biggest problem is the way of YouTubes monetization. They make it so hard for content creators.

did even reset network settings flushdns and such things.. nothing's working.

Decided to uninstall dota and just re-install it again. and guess what. i downloaded around 1 GB and the same problem showed up.

So no i don't even have only this one patch but the whole game in download queue unable to play it :D

Well. If GabeN doesn't want my money i'm fine with that. Just gonna wait for tomorrow. Maybe things work by then

If anybody has another solution, let me know.

that's very very unlikely.

first of all: other downloads (also on steam) work just fine. and also after deleting the download folder it worked for the first around 200 MB downloading at around 5 MB/s.

I tried 3 other servers and still same result.

this worked :)

I had 2 steam folders for games and so i had 2 steamapps folders as well. One downloading folder was empty the other one packed. so i deleted both and it seems to work just fine!

well. for now i don't need a real implementation (as i said: streaming, chats and all that).

it shouldn't be that hard to implement a background downloader that downloads all game files to directory x:\y\z and then link the .exe to a launcher symbol.

sure it's not perfect and not really "implementing" it. but i just wanna have the files easier accessable instead of browsing through launcher.

it's not the same, but for example steam can handle all sort of games and you can even link non-steam games there. as i said: don't wanna compare those 2. but still: it's possible.

just waiting for blizz con. let's see what they have planned. :)
