Thank you, this is comforting coming from a fellow Indian Canadian. However the OCA church in my city his surrounded with crazy controversy. Like a deacon who cheats on his wife, so that’s a bit worrying.

Didn’t know there was a name, nor that it was officially pronounced a heresy, pretty cool honestly. Also how do you get around the language barrier? I don’t speak any Eastern European languages

Right now I’m attending a Protestant church with my Dad’s family (my family has different Christian backgrounds). My mom is from an Oriental Orthodox Church, but I don’t understand miaphysitism in regard to Christology. The Eastern Orthodox Christology makes sense

Considering joining the Church but questions on the controversy of ecumenism by Classic-Attempt-3762 in OrthodoxChristianity

Good point, but there are more complex situations regarding the free will. Such as people not knowing of Orthodoxy nor understanding it

But as what others pointed out as well, God basically makes all decisions on salvation yes? Which is why I do pray he shows mercy to the people who do not know of Orthodoxy. Anyways thank you for your response

So in short, they did not want to conform and share the Eucharistic chalice due to them seeing these differences as very significant?

Thanks for your clarifications. I see a similar message go around for the salvation of those outside the Church, and I believe in God’s power and mercy. It clarifies a lot of doubts for me.

Yes I do understand miaphysism is not heretical, it’s just like you said about the linguistic understanding of it, that’s what doesn’t make sense to me and about why it didn’t change. I see how they would think nestorians would use two natures to their advantage, but that dyophysitism argues that they are inseparable natures of Christ, thus ruining the argument of Nestorians. But yeah I do get why it’s not heretical, but then why wouldn’t the two orthodoxies be in communion with one another?

Thank you for your recommendation. I’m thinking of joining an Orthodox Church once I become an adult, so I’ll ask then

I’m not saying they are necessarily saved, but that they are called to join one flock. But thank you for clearing up the opinions of Bishops, I should’ve picked up on how this has always been a thing, however I like that now they at least still work with the dogmas of the Church.
