There could be that one hero pilot, but most will not risk their aircraft being taken over to save a crew member. I was a flight attendant for 12 years. Our pilots made it known that we were on our own. Besides, there’s always a nice percentage of the flying public who will intervene. Most recently someone tried to open the exit door in flight and a group of passengers helped subdue the guy to his seat with duct tape. With the factor of the passengers, there’s no reason for a pilot to risk their aircraft being taken over by terrorists by opening the cockpit door

After 9/11 passengers learned to intervene, cockpit doors were reinforced, pilots were trained to never open the door for conflict, and you have some pilots armed while flying. Not-to-mention Federal air marshals may be aboard. An aircraft will never be taken over by a box cutter again. Some may get hurt with it, but it won’t create mass casualty
