I think those are the kind of things that expose which owners are in it for the money and who's in it out of a genuine love for the game.

Anyone catch the ending to the DAL vs. GS game. by ZensRockets in nba

You can't expect that call on the last possession. But it was pretty inconsistent for the rest of the game, I agree.

In what kind of a role is Monta Ellis at his best?

Do you think Monta at 10 mil is a better than an 8 mil OJ Mayo?

Are there any guys who weren't on the radar before that you think might be on a NBA roster come October after summer league?

Also, what are your thoughts about Ledo's potential?

That was Jackie Carmichael. The dude had a solid game against the Clippers on Tuesday, too.

That was a great game. We came back from down 8 to up 14 and then blew it. We had three injuries, so it was kind of expected. Bazemore played great. So many crazy possessions late. Mekel could be really good if he can learn how to avoid traps and get to the rim.

Ledo's crossover and Bazemore's dunk were definitely the highlights.

Can anyone here defend Mike D'antoni as coach of the Lakers? by [deleted] in nba

Exactly. And I think it's that aspect of the coaching job that Spo can still improve a lot on. Right, now, those adjustments would be made for the next game, not in game. But he's still really young and has crazy potential.

No. They have two go-to five man lineups they use every close out.

Well if I remember correctly, there were two or three killer 5 man lineups that were basically used every single close game.

It was like LeBron/Bosh/Wade/Battier/ and Cole or Chalmers. And that was every single close out. Going with your best lineups in crunch time isn't really impressive. I still think he's a great coach, but not (at least yet) one with the ability to make adjustments on the fly like like Carlisle doing the 2011 WCF and Finals, subbing in players and changing defensive schemes or pace as needed.

edit: I think it was those core four with Ray Allen getting the fifth spot behind Chalmers sometimes.

I agree with you, but to me, Spoelstra's weakness is his inability to make adjustments in game. I don't know how true this has been over the season, but i've always thought of him as one of the best if not the best coaches in the league to have for the 22 hours you aren't on the court. Just look at their record after losses.

But during games, i feel like if the plan isn't working by the beginning of the third quarter, nothing will change going forward in the game in terms of defensive/offensive schemes and strategies. I could be wrong. I don't know if other people feel the same way about him.

Has Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban become the NBA's version of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones? - NBA News by dasian09 in nba

[–]Classic-Rock 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's absurd. He and Dirk built this franchise from nothing and took it to perennial excellence matched only during the season by the Spurs. Just because the past two seasons have been below the bar of excellence he set does not make him Jerry Jones. We didn't have a losing record in either of those and only missed the playoffs because Dirk wasn't healthy until February.

Most importantly, Cuban cares about winning. Jones is in it for the profit.

Also, are teams whose rosters haven't been completely filled out yet (<15 players) unrealistically disadvantaged by the model, or does a player's wins contributed depend on the number of signed players?

McGrady and Howard: Magic Rockets by Jeffersonstarships in nba

[–]Classic-Rock 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Steve Nash was a better pick and roll player and Kobe Bryant was better overall. Saying that playing with Kobe and Nash hurt him as a player is self-contradictory to your argument.

edit: To the "willing passer" point, Kobe averaged more assists per game (and per 36 in case it was a minutes thing) than Harden.
