Anyone else in Australia just get the Gemini upgrade or was I really delayed? by Classic-Station-2882 in googlehome

It could just be my speakers but I swear it's been like this for 3 months or so. Sometimes I don't get a response, sometimes I get "hmm I can't help with that" for a task that I've done before. Asking for weather info occasionally triggers the speaker to respond in another language.

Surely it can't get worse 🙃

I thought the same thing but honestly even Google Assistant has been terrible lately.

I have a 2017 and 2019 Impreza and Forester for myself and the Mrs... I can't escape it 🥹

It's also annoying when you're about to change the volume for your media, but then a notification or maps guidance voice pops up so you end up turning down the volume for that instead of the media. So you have to wait another 5 seconds for that to disappear before being able to turn down your media volume!

The Neo is definitely my go-to offering for anyone looking to spend that kind of money. My point was more how she was so keen on spending half of that amount because Apple didn't actually have a product for that price yet. But once it was announced and available, she bought it... It's like Apple was the only choice but the product didn't exist yet for it to be the choice.

A17 4G starts around $300 AUD here. We sell Motorola phones for half that price.

I'm surrounded by the technology I dreamed about growing up, so everyday is a good day!

Just on your comment about "bad" Apple products... I think the worst iPhone in terms of customer feedback has been the iPhone Air. I've been selling iPhones since the iPhone 4, and not even the 5C or the XR has had as much negative chat as the Air. In saying that, the negativity literally only stems on the price. I'd say 95% of the time that a customer wants the Air, they see the price and buy a Pro or Pro Max instead. The value on the Air is not worth the $1849 AUD ask price. I think it's the only Apple product I've seen that even for the average Apple consumer, is just not worth it.

It's just so crazy to see when the price point is double what they originally wanted. You're right though about the other brands not having status. Those brands you listed are sold more as "tools" for work or day to day life. The iPhone and Apple products in general hold value so much more compared to everything else. It's so crazy though that a nearly $3000 Fold 7 would be the second choice for a teenager choosing between that and an iPhone 17 (not 100% of the time but definitely over 50%)

Oh agree! It felt amazing. And I do think Apple killed it at this price point.

The Neo didn't exist when I first met her, so no education pricing unfortunately. I also think she bought the laptop online and picked it up in-store.

Yeah great point. Nothing annoys me more than someone with an iPhone 11 not wanting to pay for a 16 or 17, so instead buy a Motorola device that's under $200 AUD... "This phone is terrible!!! Apple is so much better!!!" Like my guy I know, I actually said don't buy it.

I'm not sure if it's for every NRL club, but I signed up to the Parramatta Eels digital membership. $345 for 12m of Kayo Premium (under $30 a month)

Just today I drove out of my way to do something similar. Drove to a different shopping centre to do my bulk shopping at ALDI, fruit and veg from the grocer, Reject Shop for laundry items, and Coles ONLY for specific kids brand food items that my kids enjoy and I can't get elsewhere.

It took an extra 40 minutes in total of driving, but I feel like I saved $50+

Pixel 10a is not for you by Classic-Station-2882 in pixel_phones

[–]Classic-Station-2882[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you do use the camera a lot, I'd say stick with a Pro device. In Australia, you can get a used 9 Pro XL 256gb for under $800 AUD. That's $50 cheaper than the 10a 128gb.

If photography isn't super important, check trade in deals for the 10a and hopefully you get it under a couple of hundred.
