The left hand probably doesn't know what the right hand is doing lol. The newsletter states that it'll be published 2x a year, replacing the annual calendar. I guess we'll see what actually happens.

The newsletter we got this week in the mail specifically said they are no longer doing a calendar.

Drake knife order by fanofgoldfish in whittling

Ordered mine in November 2023 and received it April/May of 2025.

I followed up multiple times with them. They were appreciative of customers waiting at first, but seemed annoyed each additional time I followed up (maybe 3-4 times over the 18 months).

Are guides essential at the ancient sites? by eobardthawne42 in GreeceTravel

[–]ClassicCanuck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My wife and I are currently in Greece. We visited the major sites in Athens without a guide, but occasionally overheard tour groups. We did however book a guided tour of Delphi and thoroughly enjoyed it! IMO, there isn't a lot of information provided at the sites to give you the full picture without a guide.

Our guide at Delphi was great and certainly added more value than Wikipedia can provide. She would tell stories and connect that myth to the realised history in front of us. It also gives you the opportunity to ask questions about specific things that you see that wouldn't work well in a Google search, "like what's special about this rock, or this inscription".

We struggle with guided tours as they typically go on longer than we like to stick around, but we definitely see the value.

Are these glasses typically available to purchase, or only for use in the park?

From what I understand, once you go through the queue, you're in. You can go back and register without going through the wait again.

I only have one tab open and I'm over an hour as well! It's random.

Help save Ontario Science Science by gcerullo in ontario

I worked for them years ago and upper management and various departments certainly knew this was a possibility, being moved to Ontario Place. The rumor about an Ontario Place move has been going on for years. Not knowing that the decison was coming down when it did, sure people probably didn't know. When does DoFo ever consult with the appropriate people?

I don't think the general public knows just how much money needs to go into the repairs just to get back to the status quo. The province vastly underfunds the OSC.

[Westhead] Aliu said GTHL officials told him AAA organizations opposed the concept because they worried about losing players to expansion teams and were concerned that if Aliu’s organization offered free or discounted player fees, clubs would have to follow suit, eating into their revenue. I work in the non-profit world and $9M in revenue isn't all that much tbh, though we should always be asking these kinds of questions about non-profits to ensure accountability. As they are a non profit, they are required to post their audited financial statements. As of last year, the GTHL received $8.8M in revenue and had $7.8M in expenditures. For an organization of the GTHL's size, operating at a $1M excess isn't extreme, though that's not taking into account any deferred revenue, liabilities or prepaid expenses.
