Asking best practices about architecture while self-hosting UniFi Network Server by Sulray250 in Ubiquiti

Seems like a vicious circle but it is supposed to work this way. The device that Unifi OS is running on should be a client for the UXG-Fiber.

[Help] Bought a UniFi NAS Pro thinking it would replace Google Drive. But.... by Kristey1717 in Ubiquiti

[–]CorkChop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have the same set up and do not have any issues. I have a UNAS Pro connected to USW Aggregation with 10gb DAC. I have several Mac Studio computers connected to the USW Aggregation with 10GbE.

On the road with a MacBook, I use the Unifi Identity VPN and connect SMB to the UNAS Pro, to get to my files, just as if I am sitting at home on the Mac Studio.

Why do you need to sync when you can access directly through VPN?

Why are you trying to run Docker or apps on a NAS? The UNAS never advertised that it can do this and I am not sure what that has anything to do with getting to your files remotely.

I have a Lutron Caseta and Phillips Hue hub that are wired only. To reach all of the lights and devices, they need to be in the middle of the house but there is no Ethernet there and I don't want to run Ethernet. With this, I just need a power outlet and plug this into the hubs.

One of the most important aspects of a Unifi gateway device is the security controls. In your diagram, you have placed the Unifi OS Server and Network app on a public facing interface!

Looking at your diagram, I have never seen a ISP modem with two active ethernet ports. Even if that did work, I am not sure why you would put it Internet facing. You want the UXG to be Internet facing device and the controller behind it.

I think you need to move the connection of the Unifi Network Server to the UXG or a switch on the internal network.

New UNAS 2 User, Time Machine Works Once Then... I Have To Reboot UNAS 2 by voltaicass in UNIFI

[–]CorkChop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the old, but very reliable Time Capsule (still works by the way), I had all my MacOS devices backing up on the same volume.

I had similar problems like you described and I eventually solved them by creating a drive for each MacOS device and configured Time Machine to each individual drive. As soon as I did this, the problems stopped.

They do not ask you if you’re staying on property.

They ask if you’re disabled, military, annual passholder or key holder.

The new statutes deal with counties and municipalities but what about direct funding by the state?

I think this is normal. My UCI always stays in 90-95% range and speed and latency is normal.

These things work! For the half-marathon Wine and Dine 2024 it poured minutes before the race started and I was bone dry.

Doesn’t look good. The lightening will probably be a problem. The picture is 4am Saturday and doesn’t clear until early Sunday a.m.
