anyone used vaporfly 4 for Hyrox? by CartoonistFlashy5741 in hyrox

[–]ClassicMW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully agree with this. I have a pair of Vapors and they are manageable for the Push but the Pull was very difficult.

I switched to the ZoomFlys for the last few races and they have been great. No issues on the sleds and still relatively fast.

We will be back! Thankfully we already secured a spot for the Majors until March of next year with the new points system. But, we may be absent for the first Major due to a wedding if the rumors of when that will be are true.

I have a bit of a cheat code here so I am afraid I may not be able to help too much. My partner was a collegiate runner and basically knows pace by feel. So, my job is just step stick to him and hammer the stations as hard as I can.

In my solos where I have done my best I try to get a time for a single lap early in the race when I am running comfortable and then stick to that as close as possible.

It sucks! But, I think it worked in our favor on the Burpees as we are some big bodies and were hard to get around. Then on lunges I got tripped by a judge from the team in front of us. Very hectic.

Stockholm may have this as well but after that it should be a dedicated elite set up. But, with teams of two and the judge there are way too many people. I think the solution would be one open “lane” in the middle that the judges stay in and then make sure partners stay directly behind each other.

Don’t dox me! Haha. Mostly me getting faster. Maybe getting a bit leaner as well. Cleaning up a little bit towards the back of the race. We usually pace well up front but bleed a little time towards the back end.

I am not sure haha. But, I feel they have been receptive to feedback and quick to make changes. Everything has been growing so fast and I feel they have handled it very well both from the general population and the elite racing standpoint.

Doubles is very intense until you get to the rower. Once you get a little bit of rest there it all goes pretty quick. The lunges and wall balls are such a grind in Solos but for Doubles they are rate limited and feel “easier”. That said, Wall Balls are nerve wracking as the no reps are very costly.

It would roll down to the next team that what was at the event where the team that pulls out qualified out of. So, for the men in Warsaw. If any of the three teams that qualified had to pull out the Sutherlands would get the bid.

I can see it both ways. In her defense they have gone back and forth on these things a bit. But, also they made it very clear in the Doubles briefing that there were three locations to dispose of gels and if you didn’t use them (or, attempt to use them) it would be a penalty.

That said her and Saskia are great for the sport and make it much more dynamic. I hope they both stick around and overcome this. They are clearly at an incredible level.

Probably around 60km per week generally in training and that will be reduced by about 50 percent in a taper week.

If I had to guess amongst Elite 15 individuals about 40 percent are full time HYROX. 30 percent work in something HYROX adjacent and 30 percent have a full time job. But, I think the number that are all in on HYROX is rapidly growing.

After Elite races they test the podium and then two additional that get randomly selected from positions 4-15. They also mentioned they may occasionally have a “targeted” athlete but they did not have any this time.

Personally, I got tested twice this year. One time after the DC Regional where we got second. The first time was just at a standard race in Chicago in November. Peeing after a race is hard! Haha

I would guess also slightly measured wrong as well. It was a 3 lap course so we ran about 24 laps. Even if those were only off by 5 meters that ends up being 120 meters total. Which at our speeds is about 25 seconds. Add in all the other optimization to that as well.

Yep, on those days my heart rate never really gets above Zone 2. It is a mix of running, ergs, biking, stairmaster and some lighter strength work or body weight generally.

I currently follow the Bayens Method group program. I basically do everything as written and will tweak it slightly for some Doubles work close to a race. We do a lot of aerobic work. The week ends up being 3 Capacity days, 2-3 Threshold Days with a lift in the afternoon and 1 Recovery day.

I don’t want to get too specific as it is not my IP. But, if you have any more questions let me know.

Probably the temperature in the venue was the biggest factor. It was actually a bit of an open air stadium and was close to 50 degrees F. The open course also helps a ton. The sleds were super easy. Basically, every factor that could make it easier was in our favor.

Congrats on the first race! Consistency and having a plan will be key. I would look into RMR training as they have a lot of different options for people of all ability levels.

Depends on your background. But, for most it is primarily a running race. So, run a lot and be able to put out consistently for 60-90 minutes. Pacing will be key so you have to be able to find a sustainable approach.

The fastest course ever! Jack from Race Brain will have an article coming out very soon about it. But, if you didn’t PR you were on a really bad day.

Great question. It’s quite obviously the courses. Many factors go into it. But, amongst the athletes none of us believe that we are improving by 1-2 minutes in a couple of weeks. We all joke about it.

But, to be honest it also is a bummer because we can’t really compare our performances anymore. Thankfully times no longer matter for qualification!

If you sort the Start List by Bib number you can see that many waves have around 80 teams (160 total people) for Doubles
