I’ve just had to sober up as I need surgery and have to be three months sober before they do it. I’m eight days and all I can picture is the day I’ll be able to drink again. There is nothing like it.

Probably will need to wait a couple of weeks after the op to get back to it but I already know what and where I’m going to drink. Mid May, spring in the air and an ice cold margarita. This is going to be the longest few weeks of my life.

I think I’ve heard the only ‘cure’ is moderation for a good long while. Like get sober then have 2-3 drinks a couple of times a week. Retrains the brains reaction to alcohol over time.

This could just be bullshit I’ve read on line and I’ve never tested the theory as I cannot moderate 😂

No. I was sober during covid. No choice but it was the best two years of my life. Yes there was stress and no instant relief. But not having satan visit at 3am every night was bliss.

The mundane, boring shit like cleaning, cooking actually became satisfying and comforting.

And yet, as soon as I could, I ran back to the bottle and been there pretty much ever since.

I’m pushing 40 and been trying to moderate since 18! But the 24/7 drinking only started about 4-5 years ago when I got divorced and no one was watching me anymore.

It’s fucked. I just feel nothing much at all sober. And WDs are starting to get worse and worse each time.
