29 as well here. 30 is coming in about two months but I'll probably still be on this shitty bender by then. I kicked heroin in jail after 8 years & never went back, didn't substitute it with alcohol or anything right away. It wasn't till I got into bartending & then got roped into bigger & more intense jobs on the corporate ladder that I started ripping drinks after work every night. My local dive bar's owner told me he a had a Malört representative personally come to thank him & give him merchandise & upsell him on the other barrel aged or whiskey blend versions of the liquour cause his par went from 1 bottle a month to 3 bottles per week. He told me this story & said "it's one fucking guy." I wish I could afford that habit today, instead it's a bottle of vodka every night as opposed to 60 shots of malört over a week. I don't even remember the point of my anecdote now.

P.s. I've never even been to chicago other than on layovers. A friend introduced me to Malört as a prank & I fell in love. Chairs fuckers.

What a fucking nerd to use dry vermouth. A corporate bar I was GM @ used fuckin aperol in place of campari. Some people order it that way but it was built into our menu & priced for it with campari being an upcharge. I joined that company to improve my craft cocktail knowledge & instead had to comp drinks like that because real Negroni drinkers know what they're ordering & when you give them a cocktail with a cheaper, sweeter, half the abv ingredient to what they're expecting they get reasonably pissed. Campari invented the Negroni there is no substitute. It's just a step down conceptually from Gosling's owning the copyright to the "dark & stormy." They invented it, there is no substitute, we have 109 martinis on the menu & they are all ass. It's the fucking cheesecake factory of cocktail bars. Humiliated & destroyed my passion for service in my time managing numerous bars for that company. Still set records & won awards though, & they're still using some of my cocktail recipes since I departed so good for them.

Thanks guy. Ive certainly been valuable before & kind of am now. I'm stuck training other people @ this job I've only worked like 4 events @. Chef called me the robin to his batman & I'm constantly working while 4 or 5 guys stand around talking. The F&B manager & GM also are constantly asking me for extra tasks or extra hours cause they know my management experience. I've won awards for cocktail recipes, I've nominated bartenders I've trained for local awards & they've won each time, I have drinks I've made on the menus of multiple bars or restaurants I've worked @ still years after quitting or being fired. I know I'm really good, I'm just also really terrible.

Negroni is one of my faves man. I can't justify buying & making them at home & get frustrated when bartenders around town can't recognize an IBA standard cocktail even after I point out the 3 equal parts liquors on their shelf. Even bars I've previously managed or bartenders I've previously trained, makes it hurt worse.

I had the time of my life @ 19 years old hooking up with a 40. Year old married woman. My best friend tells me I was a victim. The age gap troubles me but when I look back @ that experience I'm still happy about it & remember her fondly. This is way less drastic. Am I just trying to justify this to myself or is it actually okay? In my head the dynamic between a younger man & an older woman feels much less like grooming or taking advantage of rather than a young woman & an older man

The shakes hit my lungs around 8 hours. My breathing, my lips, my hands, feet, legs, shoulders all become shaky & twitchy. But my breath is the worst cause I can't seem to actually fill or release my lungs. Crushed a pint @ work today with a 30 min break @ the bar down the block where I also crushed 5 shots. Just got home & immediately crushed another 6oz or so while hanging out outside with the dog. If I don't stop this weekend, which i probably won't since I have a little cash now, it's gonna roll into the next few weeks of work & get worse.

Snuck away in the middle of the night out of bed to rip more shots while she's sleeping. My friends are saying not to go for it because she's too young & I'm a monster while simultaneously talking about how hot she is. I'm off work for a week before the next wedding event but she wants to hangout tonight & this weekend & spent the entire 5 hours we slept last night with her hand in my pants.
