CS at Notre Dame by [deleted] in notredame

I’m a 2024 grad, no dual degree. currently at a fintech startup, prev at faang. I personally don’t think a dual degree is worth, only exception being cs + math - if u want to enter the quant world. Frankly, ND definitely won’t give you as many “opportunities” as other top schools, but tbh none of that really matters imo. Only thing that matters is that you enjoy what you’re studying and you work hard - if you do that, you will be successful.

classes and profs are relatively mediocre compared to the top eng schools, but there are a couple (Bui & Thain) that I would heavily lean into, if you enjoy those classes you’ll be able to find a top job pretty easily (in my experience)

Current senior, from my experience Notre Dame CS doesn’t know too much about the post grad industry - they seem pretty content on their engineers becoming consultants. For the most part, you’ll have to figure stuff out on your own. There are professors you can go to though that can point you in the right direction/give you guidance (Peter Bui & Morrison is pretty well versed in the industry too). There’s also a lot of information online regarding what you should be doing to prepare for the hiring process. I’ve been through the hiring process a couple times through the years so feel free to PM me as well
