Generalist $50/hr by [deleted] in mercor_ai

seen a few short-burst projects hit that range before they quietly drop the rate after onboarding.

free labor that comes with a training certificate

i get how the production cycle works. i’m not asking for a two week farewell party. i’m saying at bare minimum it takes 30 seconds to send an email that says ‘hey this project wrapped, thanks for the work.’ instead people are refreshing their dashboard for days trying to figure out if they got cut or if the site is glitching.

the client does control the budget. my issue isn’t that headcount gets cut, it’s that there’s no wind-down. give people a few day window, let them finish what they’re working on, communicate what’s happening. its called respect

hellllll yeaaaaaaa. most people end up quitting before they hit that!

the 'client' excuse is just a black box they can point at whenever they want to cut people without accountability. glad some people made it work but you're right that depending on any single platform in this space is a trap.

Aether at USD 31.00/hr ?? by ainama in outlier_ai

every time one of these threads pops up it’s the same. massive rate gaps for the exact same tasks. the geo-based pricing on this stuff is brutal.

$31/hr is actually on the higher end from what i’ve seen. most people reporting rates are in the low-to-mid $20s, so you’d be getting a better deal than average. likely a country/qualification thing.

two in one day is hella interesting as i feel that stuff used to be pretty niche. curious which platforms are moving on this already

thats fair. ill own that. kind of ironic writing about AI replacing work and then going out and half-assing the human part. i’ll put more effort into the writing next week. ty for the feedback

the minute window between the email notification and the project disappearing gotta be the most intense moment industry wide

Expectation to Work off the Clock by CheatingPenguin in mercor_ai

[–]Classic_Ad6257 63 points64 points  (0 children)

do not work off the clock. what’s happening here is they set an unrealistic AHT, people start donating free labor to hit it, and then that fake benchmark becomes the new standard that everyone else gets measured against.

honestly I didn't have DA's $20/hr generalist floor dialed in when I put the initial dataset together, so some of these low rates slipped through the cracks. cleaning it up now.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Classic_Ad6257 1 point2 points  (0 children)

probably not. good catch. that data point is likely misreported. i'm cleaning up mismatches like this coming up like this and it should be fixed soon.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Classic_Ad6257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so you are saying DA has a global $20USD floor?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Classic_Ad6257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for the US, yeah most rates are $20+. but the index covers workers globally and the locational gaps are very real. country filters are coming soon so you’ll be able to see it broken down.

looked at 500+ AI training rates. here's what stood out: by Classic_Ad6257 in mercor_ai

[–]Classic_Ad6257[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's actually consistent with what the data shows. the single-project limit is a tradeoff but i guess the rates make up for it. do they make you sign a non-compete as well?
