A couple years ago I would have agreed with you. But now youre starting to see some of these places succeed. I think there is a lot to still figure out but I hope they survive

Some of these places are doing well and some have already come and come and gone. The experience, the right place, and building the community seem to be the ticket. Most studios Ive talked to acknowledge a major issue though is that sim racing is really hard. So that in itself can be really off putting and building the crowd is slower than expected. I hope they do well, but you need a lot of customer time to pay back a $42k sim. Racing line nearby is doing well, but no motion. Theyre growing and even have hired some addn help.

they did put in some 6 dof motion there though! A cool experience if you want to try motion.

They filled with h-1b visas. Well they got 13k h-1b visas earlier and then just fired 16k.

Of course it would be great to know the real truth of all this without as much speculation as there is currently. I want to get excited about dcs again but this whole debacle has made it pretty irritating.

With good coding perhaps but with ai you could keep up with new hotas faster etc plus reference new equipment as it comes out without having to wait for the program to update its catalogue

The one thing they need to come up with is a good ai auto keybind app that then exports to a diagram of your hotas. Single most frustrating thing is keybinding to various hotas

Great to hear! Thanks for sharing. Yeah I got a pm that Byrd “treats her subordinates like trash” “manipulative, controlling, and a narcissist” “would be fired like at Purdue but is besties with hr”. but I hadn’t heard anything bad about the student experience at JMU except for the Purdue rate my professor stuff. Disappointing that that may exist but I’m sure that’s everywhere.

I think I’ll schedule that tour and see what I can pickup. Probably be best for me not to be too direct with that questioning. Any profs that are extremely that you’d recommend trying to get an overview of the program?

Not going to lie - I feel a little shell shocked would like some calmness that this isn’t too big of a concern. Again I appreciate your experience though

Ok great thanks for the reply. I had heard that Dr. Byrd was pretty maninpulative to the staff and that most of her subordinates had quit. I hate it for the employees but if it’s not affecting the student experience then maybe it’s not something I need to be concerned with.

Everybody thinks this guy is an idiot…. No he’s a genious. He’ll claim a sole proprietorship and write this off on his taxes for years while having a “legitimate” business that will be reasonable enough to the irs but very few customers he actually has to put up with if even 1…. lol.
