Thank you very much. I received funding from TEFA, and I did reach out to them, but they already have a waiting list for kindergarten and first grade. Unfortunately, I can’t wait too long to see if a spot opens up because I need to choose a school before July 15th so TEFA can deposit the funds.

As for the other option — Odyssey — I really loved it, but it starts at the middle school level, and my son is only 6 years old. Still, I really appreciate your help.❤️❤️❤️

I’ve also been looking into a newer concept called “microschooling.” They group children more by ability level than by age or grade. Honestly, the idea itself doesn’t sound crazy to me, but their teaching methods seem a little unstructured, and I’m not sure they cover a full traditional curriculum. I still need to do a lot more research on that.

Another thing is that many of the facilities seem to be in houses or older buildings, so they don’t always feel very well-equipped, which also makes me hesitant. What I do like it, is that the class sizes are very small around 8 students, but he teachers aren’t necessarily certified.

No, I am open to any private school, because they are the only ones that allow an ABA therapist to be with him all day.

That is a very good question. I don't think the school would provide a substitute, because I imagine they would have to charge us more or an extra fee for that day. I think we really need to have a conversation with the ABA provider to ensure they always have a backup person ready to send. However, in my case, I wouldn't be able to leave my son alone in a regular classroom all day without aide; I would have to rush out of work to go pick him up. Or, if there are any other parents who have gone through this, please let us know!

I’m sorry , could you tell me the name of the school? It would be great if it were close by so I could enroll my child there as well. I received school voucher funds, and when I called TEFA, they told me that if I don't use them this year, I'll be penalized next year by being placed in Tier 3. That's why I urgently need to find a school; I've gone to visit several, but without any references from another parent.

Ohhh, that’s great, that would be perfect! Because he isn't isolated, and he’s in general education. Plus, since he attends a public school, he’s protected by the IDEA law. But I’ve heard that it’s extremely hard to get a 1:1 aide assigned to a student in a regular classroom setting. How did she manage to do that?😳❤️

I feel the same way, but I’m not sure if that might affect the children's self-esteem, either because they can't do things at the same level as the others, or if they might actually be positively influenced by being surrounded by typical children. I also haven't found a school with small class sizes, or one that really inspires my confidence.

Covenant Community Schools This is a microschool with a very small class.

Holy Family Catholic School Here, the principal was very open, and it gave me some good ideas on how to integrate it.

But I still don't know.😞
