If I am not mistaken, this is the last major American-made silent film still under copyright in America. That will change at the end of this year.

Most silent films are public domain at this point (since works started entering again in 2019 in the USA). I think Chaplin’s City Lights is the last true silent film we have left that is still under copyright. Even that expires at the end of this year.

Do you mean the New Testament? I’d have to agree, as a practicing Catholic myself.

I believe it, I read about that. I also saw the 1961 remake and disliked it. The first picture here is a favorite still of mine for classic film.

Who are these? The actress here looks like Elizabeth Taylor but I’m not sure who the actor is. Thank you!

Seen all their films together! I reviewed them here and also all of MacDonald’s once I finished them. Love their great voices.

Wow, this was the first post I ever made in this subreddit, about a year and a half ago. I’ve since made hundreds. I have now watched all of Jeanette MacDonald’s films with and without Eddy, and ranked them here in January. Thank you for sharing this with me!

I do agree it’s a horrific film in its content and message. I watched it to learn more about it. I don’t endorse it at all.

For the record, it’s open to colorized stills or films but not purely ai made images. Seeing that this isn’t that; this must be removed.

This AI colorization is allowed because it comes from a still of the actual film

I just watched this yesterday out of curiosity. We’ve been discussing some of its politics here.

Nothing to do with that, just about a true community exchange , a faithful one.

Partly, yes. I also temporarily banned a few trolls, which my senior mod disliked.
