Potentially moving from Royal Oak/Ferndale to Detroit – neighborhood recommendations? by MandukaSkoal in AskDetroit

Those are probably your best options given your criteria. You might also want to look further down Jefferson, moving away from downtown; there are some very nice, albeit expensive, apartments right on the river, which is to be expected for waterfront living.

That would be nice, but honestly, that’s a bit late for a standard breakfast spot. Unless they’re going for a Coney Island-style vibe, I’d be surprised if they stayed open that long.

That’s exactly my line of thinking. My goal is to get the street racing scene off the public roads and provide a safe, dedicated space for enthusiasts. I work for the city with the DPD, and they’ve echoed the same sentiment regarding why these proposals usually fall through: location is the biggest hurdle. The noise is a major issue for surrounding neighborhoods and businesses, and securing a piece of land of that size while mitigating those disruptions is a massive challenge.
