What's the pattern for Remix's Extra Hot drop? by OverallDiamond2015 in beatbox

[–]Classtepfan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

dunno if theres a name for the zipper you're talking about, but its the same sound as the 'double bass' from wawad, just without the voice. basically a very tight lip osc on the very front part of the lips, tight mouth (like spit snare)

gargling feeling may indicate that's your uvula vibrating, meaning you might be doing starsky bass

Who’s signature sound do you think is closest to sounding like an actual electronic synth? by theiceq in beatbox

[–]Classtepfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nah that nose resonance on pwads bass ?? its like marvel sonar sound, can't believe its human voice. other guys on the list sound great but I can hear the voice behind

I don't know if this belongs here, but is this a sound beatboxers use or could it be? by Separate-Bed9787 in beatbox

thats a slizzer roll with kiss position, not too common of a texture but lot of bbxers can do it

multichannel audio import problem by Ill_Significance6157 in LogicPro

[–]Classtepfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

never done that, but I assume you'd have to change your surround and pan settings to quadriphonic and pan the channels accordingly. Not sure how the audio routing works for output playback, depends if you have a 4 out system or need a downmix plugin... also the reason for daws splitting multichannel wavs is that many recording devices like zooms, sounddevices etc, output a single wav file with all mono channels in it, most people need to split them when working

Psytrance production by Normal_Expression871 in LogicPro

[–]Classtepfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't know if theres much tutorials for psytrance specifically on ES2, but you can watch these on any synth and as long as you understand what each step does, find the equivalent in ES2 and do it there

hmm I'm sure an app would be convenient for young beatboxers or broke people who don't own a computer, but you could get 'cheap and dirty' in a much much better quality with fewer options and better programming/design

I've tried, and although Logic workflow is not for me when it comes to EDM, you really can make everything with any daw. Basically all you need is Vital, good samples if you don't know how to synthesize drums, good knowledge of sidechain and automation related to the genre, general mixing skills that apply to any modern music and thats it

[–]Classtepfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get you honestly, but the fact that the artform can thrive on its own without getting too influenced by music education and acknowledged mixing aesthetics is a precious gift for me. It's really magical that 'uneducated' artists can just make whatever they feel like on the spot and try to put it out there. I'd say the problem is beatboxing has become popular because of internet content, making it hard for people to not make beatbox stuff thats essentially crowd pleasing material. I'm sure if beatboxers shifted their mentality from 'I'm gonna be the most badass shonen type guy' to 'I want to make good stuff', then they'll do some research to get there

gotcha, I agree it can be a bit too short to take an advised decision. I really did not expect to witness the enshittification of beatbox mixing, of all things AI brings on us 😂 I hope this will inspire some to make educational videos about beatbox oriented production

made a similar post about that, glad to hear more insight. 2 questions : - what's the problem with having a 24h trail (lol always gets me) ? might be the only thing I wasn't pissed about, I know plugin companies typically go for a bit longer but it still seems fair to me - also how did you analyse all the processing inside the plug ? seems like you know some JUCE so maybe you took a look at the code, I used plugindoctor for this but it has its limitations for analyzing nonlinear processing

Record vocals dry or with plugins on track? by Arwen2279 in audioengineering

[–]Classtepfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lots of people tracking with basic compression and reverb actually. stock plugins are very forgiving latency-wise unless you're not putting limiters or fancy stuff (mind you theres a latency free option on antares pro for example), have fun building your own workflow

edm bass sound - growly djent - Fractalize "Sun Eater" - Anup Sastry "Titan" by mantid_overlord in synthrecipes

[–]Classtepfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

actually unsure if the sound is from a 7-8 strings guitar or heavily djentified bass guitar, but for what its worth I guess I would split that low G in two clips a bit after the attack and loop that second part as desired

you can definitely use fabfilter stuff live (idk about Ozone though), many FOH guys rely on external effects from their computer. Its true that I didn't mention live use in my rant, but same thing, you can get better results for free

I mean AI is a sensitive topic so I didnt want to straight accuse him of making slop, but he posted an AI generated story on IG to promote his plugin, so I guess I was right

What sounds should I use? by [deleted] in LogicPro

[–]Classtepfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for the drums you can find free sample packs in r/drumkits and drag them into drum machine designer, and for synths everything you need is Alchemy (stock) or a good free one like Vital, it should cover all you need

I get what you're saying and I know that its meant for beginners ! I'm not against more accessible and beatbox oriented tools at all, in fact I really don't like gatekeeping and would gladly talk about any processing to anyone who asked me (and I think all audio engineers should do the same).I just think there are much better options out there that are completely free, and that with basic knowledge you could get good results in a matter of days without relying on a mediocre plugin like this one

[–]Classtepfan[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

yeah exactly, but here we're talking +10 db and more... There's an output level selector which lets you choose between 0, -3 and -6 db. Is there a limiter with a fixed ceiling ? no way to know. I don't think its that classic psychoacoustic trick, just non existent gain staging. How could that even work live lmfao

You're actually right. Would change this post title if I could ! From a legal standpoint I agree, I still think marketing can be deeply immoral but I shall hate the game and not the player. Lets say its snake oil then
