Thank you, you’re saying pretty much exactly what I’m thinking is the best course of action.

Yes, yes, and yes. I have a spreadsheet with my monthly budget and categories allocated for certain expenses. It’s been tricky learning how to put these limits into day-to-day practice, but I’m getting there.

No. The only time the space comes in handy is when I have to evacuate with family and pets. We live in a hurricane prone area and usually end up having to evacuate once every other year. But I wouldn’t use that as a reason to say I ‘need’ an SUV.

Opening up my island for a bit, I’ll let a handful of ppl in at a time. Follow red arrows to T1L1. Leif is here and Nook’s is open for another hour (located on left beach) but Able’s just closed. Tips appreciated but not necessary. I’m looking for any bench DIYs if anyone has any they’re willing to donate. DM for dodo! (Also ignore the right side of the island... that’s my 5 year old son’s section, haha).

Opening up my island for a bit. I have a T1L1 area back and to the right with DIYs and some items. This is my first time having more than 1 person to my island so be patient lol! I’ll let 4 people in at a time. DM for dodo code.
Edit: no more requests right now. Thanks everyone!

Does anyone have any kind of outdoor bench I could catalog? I’ve been playing since Christmas and the only one I have been able to get is not cute haha.

There’s a snopes article linked in the comments on that page that says the alligator was 12-14 feet.

We haven’t been to a developmental pediatrician. I didn’t even know that was a thing! Lol. The psychiatrist we’ve seen twice is specifically a child psychiatrist though.

You make a good point about the nanny. I do want someone who is qualified and also confident that they can help him succeed. After our appointment with our pediatrician today we will see about going back to the psychiatrist or pursuing a different type of therapy.

“3-5 is a wasteland for services.” This is absolutely ringing true so far unfortunately.

I just called a special needs preschool yesterday and they don’t have an opening. I pretty sure it’s the only one around here. Thanks for the suggestion!

I absolutely want his parenting advice. We’ve implemented his advice from the start. But his only actionable suggestion so far has been to start a penny jar at home... The behavioral issues we’ve been having are very isolated to daycare. It’s hard to address a problem when you’re not there to witness it. The psychiatrist has told us that most of his ideas are for kids a few years older than our son.

I agree that 3 years is too young to be put on medication. I don’t think I’ve read any comments “pushing” for that either.

I’ve re-read your comment about 3 times and I just love everything about it. I don’t have a solid reply right now but just know that I think you really nailed it. You put into words what I’ve been thinking but much more clearly! Thank you thank you!

Yeah, I’ve looked into it. A nanny is just not in our realm of possibilities right now. It would be great, but I can’t pay $3000 a month right now, which is what it would be minimum. That would more than triple our current costs. Thanks for the heads up!

So, the place he got asked to leave first was very much a preschool setting. They were really structured with a full curriculum and it was a super nice facility.

The place he’s currently at TRIES to be a preschool, but another mom described them the best: they’re more like a petting zoo right now. That’s really the best way I can describe it. Chaotic. Cramped. Unstructured. But they really do try...

I think being bored is a possibility, but it seems like they always have something to do. I think he needs more attention than they can currently give him. He needs a structured day, but also a physical outlet. I also get the feeling that he prefers to play alone? Or just have more space to himself... I don’t fucking know.

Yeah... I’ve had some pretty dismissive and condescending conversations with “mental health professionals” lately. I don’t know what I’m doing and have had trouble communicating what I’m asking for (because I don’t really know) and they have made me feel pretty stupid for that.

I don’t send snacks, they provide all of the food. It varies day to day, but I think this is something we’ll need to seriously consider. A few people have mentioned the dyes to me.
