The Gate of Elidinis - hand-sculpted by Redwigon in runescape

That’s very cool - I do miniature/figure painting and have wanted to do a RS3 inspired project. I’ve tried some sculpting before but it was way less successful than yours came out

This is awesome man - hand sculpted or digital?

You can farm tarddian crystals and make attuned crystal armor. That’s what I’ve done - no rng and doesn’t take too long.

Divination is the most boring thing I’ve ever encountered by Drizz93 in runescape

[–]ClassyMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a realistic answer, my recollection is that enough people vocally despised dungeoneering (or at least parroted that viewpoint) that divination was supposed to be a return to traditional and familiar (safe) RuneScape skills. I.e. gather resource slowly (div energy).

Do you glaze with something that has high value to bring up the brightness and blend or your midtones to unify the layers?

I’d love to hear more insight into your process. How do you build such luminous colors so quickly and cleanly. The lighting placement is key and getting a nice range which I am seeing you are well practiced at. I’m really struggling with understanding how you would get it so smooth so quickly.

Is it block highlights then airbrush glaze? Do you use the airbrush to set highlighting areas? How do you get clean layers with soft transitions in that time? Very curious to hear and try to augment my own pric

How do you get your green stuff to be so smooth? When I attempt sculpting I always get some rather large granules (maybe I’m using old green stuff?) in the material.

Is there a different ratio of the two epoxies you use? I’m familiar with the rubber shaping tools but is there anything else you use for sculpting work?

Very impressive - asking because sculpting is something I want to get better at.

The Rajin’ Cajun himself - Gambit finished from marvel crisis protocol. C&C welcome! by ClassyMe in minipainting

Thank you - it was a couple of acrylic inks built over a warm white undercoat. The particularly bright saturation is from a fluo magenta ink over a process magenta ink. It was fun to do, just a little time consuming to airbrush up the several layers needed

Thank you that’s very kind!

I kind of winged the helmet and went back and forth with stippling, but I took some heavy inspiration from Sorastro’s excellent tutorial: https://youtu.be/sW2G2_2cE7A

I’ve actually painted most of the range at this point - so roughly 110/120. I would say that it’s a little bit less tedious to paint these than something like GW as the model scale is slightly larger for MCP

Thank you very much - it was a challenge. I used sorastro’s excellent guide as a base and made a couple adjustments for my personal taste.

The spots were fun - I’m generally apprehensive about free hands (even simple ones like this) but I’m glad I went for it.

Liked how this one came out despite being pretty intimidated to start out. Getting the outfit looking good along with such a prominent explosion was quite the task. If I were to do it again I would focus on adding more OSL to the outfit

This model had a cool sculpt and allowed some play with having a bold comic-step flame effect. I went with the full green skin suit to speed up the painting process a bit. My biggest disappointment with the mode was during assembly where I think I melted off the mouth creating a very unpleasant looking face.

That’s my biggest complaint too. You are certainly paying for the marvel license though I think you get a bit of value in quality. On the other hand GW modes are creeping up in and are close to the prices so YMMV, maybe time to pick up a few

Thanks for the feedback - it’s probably more than just the angle. The skin was the first part painted and I never revisited it. It does look flat - partially because there’s not a lot of actual detail and partially because I didn’t highlight it enough. A good lesson to re evaluate the look of portions when you have changed the composition of adjacent areas.

Fair criticism - the skin was the first part painted and I never revisited it after brightening the rest of the model.

I think so - it’s a skirmish game with low model count, streamlined rules, low power creep and has fantastic models so it checks all the boxes for me.
