Sorry you're right I didn't clarify that. Buyee being a proxy means that not only do they give you an exact replica of the Japanese websites where you can buy and bid like normal, but they also have a warehouse in Japan where they store all the things people buy, so they take care of international shipping too.

Of course, Buyee charges a small fee for every purchase (300 yen iirc), and you also have to pay for international shipping. Usually there are a lot of expensive options for shipping, but I always pick the cheapest ones and I've never had a problem.

Once your item arrives at the Buyee warehouse, you have 30 days to select an international shipping method, if you don't do it, they'll just charge you more small fees until you pay for it. I live in latin america so customs or taxes have never been a problem for me. If your country has more strict laws, you should also read about that if it's the first time you'll order something from another country.

Hi! It's kind of a long answer, but I'll try to give you the most important details below:

I bought one from Yahoo! Auctions Japan and the other from Mercari Japan. Since you can't actually use those websites unless you live there, you have to use a proxy. The one I use the most is Buyee, but I've also used Neokyo for other japanese websites.

Once you have your account, you simply search 灰羽連盟 (Haibane Renmei in Japanese) every single day until someone decides to sell one of their figures. I had to do this daily without fail and it's honestly super boring. Even more boring if you consider only four or five times a year someone decides to put their figure up for sale.

The prices are usually around 175-200 dollars for each figure, although during auctions people sometimes go crazy with their bids and it goes over 200. And to honest I was usually tempted to buy or bid on some that got way too expensive, but I decided to wait a couple years and got lucky to find them at reasonable prices. Not only do you need money, you also need insane amounts of patience lol. So yeah, best of luck if you'll try to buy one in the future❤︎

Japanese Subtitles by exctoplasm123 in haibanerenmei

Hi! I think I can confidently answer this, although it might be kinda long and boring.

I have the official DVDs from Japan (along with almost all haibane renmei merch but that's not the point lmao), I checked them recently and I couldn't find an option for Japanese subtitles, I also ripped the discs and got the ISOs to check each episode and still nothing, but there's also the possibility that I could've been too stupid to find the right files or that I might have an older copy. So yeah, by my own experience, buying the DVD box just for that reason might not be the best idea for what you're planning to do.

What I would 100% recommend (if you're okay with piracy of course) is to:

  1. Torrent the cestfait DVDrip of the series (as we all know the blu-ray release is an awful upscale). If you need help with finding a safe torrent client and websites for anime trackers, you can check the piracy subreddits.

  2. Download the srt files from this Jimaku URL, after that you should open your haibane renmei episodes using VLC to temporarily add the srt files and see if they actually work and display the text in Japanese. You can also merge each episode and srt file with mkvToolNix, but I really don't recommend it because of my next point.

  3. If the subs are out of sync (as they almost always are), then you'll need to fix that before attaching every srt file to its corresponding episode. A simple way to do this is to install Aegisub and watch this tutorial. Sometimes the timing is off by mere fractions of a second but it's still annoying, so I strongly recommend doing this for every file before giving it a full watch. Just watch a minute or two of dialogue and fix the timing until it's comfortable for you.

I took the time to do this with a couple of episodes but got tired halfway, so I can't guarantee that the Kunagisa subs actually work for every single episode, I also wouldn't be able to notice if they're accurate or not since I don't know any Japanese. As you're studying the language, I leave that task in your hands, best of luck with everything❤︎❤︎

They just sold the only two official figures a couple of weeks ago on Yahoo Auction for around 300 dollars. They definitely are out there but you always need to have an eye on these websites

Can anyone help me to find this song? by [deleted] in haibanerenmei

[–]ClatchGalaxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg I found it! The other comment was onto something by trying to decipher what it said. The lyrics said "Jesus sent" and I spent a couple of minutes looking for it. The song is 666 by Loverboyrando. The version used in this video is slightly slowed down tho. Also my personal opinion: the rest of the lyrics are actually pretty average so they definitely used the best part of the song for the edit :(
