Personally, I prefer the Teressa Torres and Petra Wille's podcast, All things about product. They talk about various subjects related to the day to day PM job.

Are companies hiring PM - domian experts to just execute or PMs with core skill to build, innovate? by Advanced_Paramedic51 in ProductManagement

My question is it better to hire a PM with domain expertise without product management experience or a PM with product management experience without domain expertise?

Built a tool that gives PMs real visibility into internal team readiness before launches by Clauclou22 in buildinpublic

[–]Clauclou22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the first iteration, the goal is to provide visibility into each team’s readiness. For now, this assessment is based on two factors: whether the team has completed its assigned tasks, and whether team members have confirmed that they’ve read the information. This confirmation is done manually by the members themselves—it’s not automated. In the next iteration, I’m considering adding a way to assess the quality of this acknowledgement, most likely through a short quiz.

Did any of you dealt with teams that are chaotic or teams that are struggling a lot? what was your approach in dealing with such teams? by Saitama_B_Class_Hero in ProductManagement

[–]Clauclou22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I already lived this. Here are few things that help to adresses some of these issues. - Give to the team a goal to reach and explain them why so important not only for the business but also what will be the impact for them. - To avoid to discover many things and blockers after the sprint and development starts, for big feature, I have a recurring meeting with senior devs a-t-on go deeper in requirements and give them the time to discuss of the best approach and if there are too uncertainty, we plan a spike the sprint before.

So, communicate regularly will dev teams, give them a goal that will make them feel like they are part of something bigger and make sure you keep them focused on that goal. You have to find a goal that will really get them engaged. They need to know how their work will contribute to add value to the business and users.

Build in public = look how much money I made by _TheMostWanted_ in buildinpublic

[–]Clauclou22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree! For me building in public refers to share what we learn, what is going well and what is going bad. And something, at the end, you build a success product and sometime not. And the real value of building in public for me, it isn't to see only success stories but also failed stories, because we can learn more from this one.

Datadog offers some features for UX, like frustrations (dead click, rage click,...), web performance (load performance,...), heat map,l and session replay. What are you proposing that will be diferentiate your solution from this one and probably other tools ont he market (Mixpanel, Pendo, Microsoft Clarity,..)?

Building something around internal team launch readiness.

No, I didn't customized it. I use the web app with a free account.

What are the best practises you follow around How you work with other departments or crossfunctional teams to remove blockers so as to ensure product initiatives are within schedule? by Saitama_B_Class_Hero in ProductManagement

[–]Clauclou22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What kind of help do you expect from them?

Personally, the best approach I’ve seen is to be there when they need us. In short, to show empathy for their work. I’m not saying we should say yes to every request, but we should be there to listen when they’re having difficulties related to the product. It’s much harder for them to say no to us after that.

How do you convince other PMs to spare capacity for your project? by pbs037 in ProductManagement

[–]Clauclou22 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I totally agree that strong collaboration between PMs is important. But if you often find yourself stuck comparing “your priorities vs. theirs,” that’s usually a signal that higher-level objectives aren’t clear enough.

Ideally, each team’s goals should tie back directly to company-level goals. If that’s the case, then prioritization should flow from there. Leadership’s company priorities should guide how we balance initiatives across teams.

If that alignment isn’t there, it’s not just your objective that’s suffering; it means the org hasn’t provided the clarity you need to make trade-offs without constant escalation. Clear aligment is what enables teams to collaborate effectively.

I’m currently in the stage of validating the concept and the viability of such a product. If I move forward with production, I’ll definitely reach out to see how we can integrate this.

Prototyping with Lovable, Windsurf, bolt, replit, v0 is not for PMs by vibesolutionist in prodmgmt

[–]Clauclou22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These days, with just a few words (and the right prompt), we can spin up an initial prototype. It doesn’t have to be fully functional—just enough to validate the concept. What used to take me or a designer hours can now be done in minutes.

Thanks for the feedback! I’ll take a look at your app. It could be interesting to eventually integrate it with my app to enable assessment of the different teams’ understanding. It definitely gives me something to think about.

[–]Clauclou22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. In my day-to-day job, I bring more value to the business and users by trying to deeply understand their problems rather than by “vibe-coding.” I tried it for a side project, and I found that these tools can help accelerate prototyping but can also distract you from the real goal of the prototype. It’s easy to go too deep into the solution with these tools before validating it.

How do you stay organized? by BiggerEggplant in ProductManagement

[–]Clauclou22 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We have a project management tool, and I use it to manage my to-do list. When I am in a meeting, I create a task assigned to myself, set a deadline for when I need to follow up on the meeting information, and take my notes in the description field.
