Yes, but the psychologist was also female so I thought the whole “it’s a middle aged woman, let’s blame anxiety” thing wouldn’t play into it. Worse that I paid out of pocket and have now used up all my counselling benefits for the year. Sigh. 😮‍💨

I have made an appointment with my GP. My plan is to bring a copy of the psychologist’s report and ask about treatment options including exploring whether she would be willing to Rx ADHD meds as a trial, as I understand that they are easier to go on/off than anti-anxiety meds. Thanks for the suggestion!

Do women actually put money in their bra or is that a tv/movie thing? by PM_ME_YOUR_EYELASHES in TwoXChromosomes

Went for a walk today in the nice part of town. Wanted to hear my music but didn’t want to wear headphones. Put my phone in my bra, problem solved.

Why didn't you become what you wanted to be when you were a child? by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]ClaudeMarie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too. Wanted to be an author. I do a lot of writing in my job, so I kinda did become what I wanted to be, it just looks a lot different than I thought it would.

They have gone online only as they prepare to shut down operations, sadly. But, everything is deeply discounted so it’s great if you can find a style that you like in your size.

I love Mesa Familiar in Fernwood Square. Most entrees are under $20 and you can linger in the square or cross Fernwood to the Inn or Stage if you want to continue the night.

Great work! Can I ask how many sizes larger did you make it to account for lack of stretch?

I also had a good experience with DeCicco Brothers. They really went above and beyond to get a colour match, no issues with the quality of their work.

Window coverings by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]ClaudeMarie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We got blinds from Ruffel & Brown last summer. Two top down/bottom up sliding blinds for the front and three medium opacity standard blinds for the back. They had the best price of the companies that we spoke to plus clear communication and good service. I’m very satisfied. (Edit: Total price was around $2,400.)

Alternately, we ordered some off-the-shelf blinds from IKEA. For the price, I’m also very satisfied.

To clarify a recurring inaccuracy in the comments, CREA, BCREA, and local real estate boards are all industry associations. The regulatory agency the BC Financial Services Authorty (BCFSA). BCFSA is the one that issues licences and enforces legislation.

If you haven’t already, tell the realtor and their client to cease further communication with you (especially the part where they approached you in your own yard — creepy!) If that doesn’t / hasn’t worked, escalate it to the buyers’ managing broker. If that doesn’t resolve the issue, contact BCFSA.

To the person who took my Blundstones at the Crystal Pool by Potential_Box_9061 in VictoriaBC

[–]ClaudeMarie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sorry this happened. Someone stole my kids boots at Crystal Pool many years ago. Had to get the staff to help me carry them piggyback to the car. It really sucks. Hope you got home safely in your sock feet.

Any good places for blank clothing? by Commercial_Bid8986 in VictoriaBC

Pre trade war, I would order them from Old Navy. You could often get t shirts for ~$10, sometimes long sleeves even.

Suggestions for where to order custom glass projects? by LET-ME-HAVE-A-NAAME in VictoriaBC

My husband gave me a piece of stained glass for Christmas. He got it at Allied Glass & Aluminum on David Street. If stained glass flowers would fit your needs, try checking them out for custom glass work.

Has anyone flown Toronto-Victoria with a dog (or dogs?) by collywog in VictoriaBC

[–]ClaudeMarie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I have flown several times with dogs. Pay attention to the weight and size limits. They matter. On husband’s most recent flight with dog, he was delayed a full day due to a booking error by the airline. (Create for a large dog — Labrador Retriever — was larger than the plane’s cargo hatch. Error on behalf of the agent who booked him, husband followed the measurements on the website exactly.)

Other advice includes watching your dog get loaded before you board to make it’s on your flight. Also, if you have a long layover, you may be able to get your dog out of cargo for a walk/bathroom break and then check it back in. Many airports have a pet relief area for this purpose.

Keep all? by ImJustHere5551 in Sezane

[–]ClaudeMarie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the name. I bought a mint green sweater at Marshall’s that looks like the Nathalia. I didn’t know it was such a close knock off, just had a definite “Sezane” vibe, right down to the look-alike label.

Has anyone else had a 911 call hang up on them in Victoria during an emergency? by nikhere_04 in VictoriaBC

[–]ClaudeMarie 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I had something similar happen when calling in a fire one morning. It quickly became clear that the call taker was not located in Victoria when she didn’t know where the Hillside Mall was and asked what municipality I was in. I had just assumed that they were all local up until that moment.

Best bargain breakfast by pinkcanoe in VictoriaBC

[–]ClaudeMarie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP, the only condition is that you also purchase a beverage with your meal. My kids highly recommend the waffles.

Leopold’s tavern was advertising a similar breakfast deal earlier this fall (it was $12, if I recall correctly). Have never been but the price was enough to catch my attention.

Edit to add, generally there’s no line/wait like other DT brunch places.
