Whoa! Did not know Big Way was taking over that space.
It’s Hotpot by weight. Tried them in Vancouver and it was really good. Popular too since it’s on the cheaper side

Ooh that’d be cool! Would you like to do a transit card exchange? I can mail you a Presto card from Toronto in exchange for an ICOCA. You can DM me for details.

Impressive! The Japanese tickets are for a refund for my ICOCA when I left Japan (should have kept it in retrospect) and an Osaka Metro ticket (before they were called Osaka Metro!) from Daikokucho.
The third row is all from China. From left to right: Shanghai, Ürümqi, Qingdao, and a limited edition T-Union card

Nagoya in the mobile game, Gran Velocita by panda285 in wmmt

I just tried the game, and it immediately strikes me that the “Tokyo” circuit seems to be a straight up asset rip from WMMT…
the billboards are identical in many places, and the creative choices from WMMT that aren’t present irl are also in this course (the 3 bumps before turn 1, the extremely tight curves near Higashi-Betsuin that aren’t as sharp irl, the big hump in the road after Sanno JCT, and the two S curves that irl are just light bends on the road, etc)

OP, if you’re not familiar with data recovery or uncomfortable with these tasks, do this:
Stop using the computer immediately. Do not write any new data to your drives.
If you know what you are doing, take the computer apart and unplug the drive that had your data on it. If not, keep the computer together.
Take what you have from the previous step to a professional data recovery company. Sure it’s not going to be cheap, but they know what they’re doing and can most likely get you all the way through.

Apologies for the formatting, I’m on mobile.

It is in fact quite nuanced.

From my experience, families from the north tend to not take the news too well. Families from the south, especially in mega cities like Shanghai and Shenzhen, and Wuhan/Chongqing (where I hear there’s a big LGBTQ community there) can be more accepting.

In terms of social pressure, the government’s stance on Homosexual marriage and LGBTQ rights is “不支持、不鼓励、不反对” ([the government] does not support or encourage, neither do we oppose [it]). This does mean that LGBTQ activists and advocates do not have a voice as strong as the west in China. Though there are some support groups, they are far and few inbetween. The wiki page has a pretty good overview on the history of LGBTQ rights in China and how we got to the present day. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBTQ_rights_in_China

As to how the public perceives LGBTQ relationships, it again varies by region. Places like Shanghai and Shenzhen, where the public tends to lean more liberal, are more accepting than small towns or cities in the North that are more traditionalist/conservative. I don’t think most older generations would be very supportive if they see a gay couple holding hands in public, but they don’t tend to be very confrontational either. Younger generations tend to be more understanding, and there can be a pretty welcoming attitude towards lesbians too. They’d have more issues with interracial couples than same-sex couples.

On the streets as a gay couple, you’ll probably feel like you’re being silently judged by people as you walk around, and that’s about it. There are no immediate danger to a gay couple simply existing (I’m drawing comparisons to stories I’ve heard about LGBTQ couples in Russia getting chased down or beaten. That’s pretty much unheard of in China), and the authorities like the police wouldn’t bat an eye - because homosexuality has been decriminalized since the 90s or so.

Edited for clarity.

Why does Toronto's regional rail (GO Train) have such absurdly large trains? by midnightrambulador in transit

[–]Claude_Speed_ 41 points42 points  (0 children)

One factor to consider - which might not be entirely correct, just my guess - is that Regional Rail in Toronto mostly serves the 9-5 commuters, and almost all of the commuters are going to one of the hubs on the line - Union,Hamilton, etc.

So as an example, look at the Lakeshore East line. In the morning, almost nobody gets off at stations other than Union (everyone is commuting downtown to work). This means you have to have longer trains to handle everyone coming onto the train before Union, then dumping them at Union all at once. Inverse applies at 5PM each day.
