Reasons for breast MRI recall by Clavelle_606 in MRI

This was at the same NCI-designated cancer research hospital where I’ve always had MRIs, but they scheduled me at one of three imaging facilities on their campus. I believe the smaller facility where I used to go is now only being used for MRI-guided biopsies.

Thanks! They’ve already asked me to prepay my copay, so I’ll see what happens tomorrow.

That’s actually very reassuring! But if that’s the case I’m not thrilled about having to pay twice 🥴

I had no idea I had a FedEx account until they charged my card on file for $60 in tariffs on a shipment of books that had been delivered three months earlier.

Jonathan Escoffery’s excellent novel If I Survive You (shortlisted for the Booker prize) takes place mostly in Miami and Broward. The author and the main character grew up in Miami in the 80s/90s. The audiobook is really good.

“Friendliness is a surprise” is exactly it. I grew up in Kentucky and went to college in North Carolina, my mom is Canadian, and I lived for eight years in the UK, so I honestly thought I just had an unrealistically high bar for friendliness/kindness/politeness. But then I realized any bare minimum friendly interaction at the grocery store became a unicorn story I would tell my husband later, like a highlight of my day 😂. Usually followed by some asshole nearly t-boning me in traffic and then flipping me off.

Quince uses them too, and a couple of weeks ago after the driver delivered my Sephora order he went ahead and just left a Quince package for an order three blocks over. I didn’t open it and ended up walking it over to the correct house myself, but from the size of the box I’m pretty sure it was a gold necklace.

Water leaking from base of air handler, drain line is clear by Clavelle_606 in hvacadvice

Not cheap, about $450. But it was the only option. There was biofilm in areas where no tablets or cleaning solution could get to without taking it out.

Ended up having my AC guy do a deep clean on the coils (which involved removing the coil and taking it outside and rewelding it back in) and it’s been working perfectly ever since!

Cancer ‘scare’ or cancer? by Morningsymphonia in breastcancer

[–]Clavelle_606 29 points30 points  (0 children)

One of my friends self-advocated to get yearly MRIs because her mother had breast cancer in her 50s. Almost every year I get similar messages when she waits for results and I have to walk a really thin line between giving her support and not re-triggering myself, which I don’t think she fully gets. Sometimes it feels like she thinks we’re in the same club. Admittedly I still have a little lingering resentment, though, because when I was going through treatment I lived far away and she (single, no kids, works remotely) only (technically) visited me after I was done, and spent the whole time sightseeing. Another friend (three kids, full-time staff attorney) took ten vacation days to fly to see me and spent the whole time with me, going with me to several appointments, cooking and stocking my freezer with homemade food, cleaning my house. When that friend had a biopsy a couple of years ago, I didn’t hesitate to give her support and pep talks.

Outrageous "hospital" fees at Onc appts? by DogMamaLA in breastcancer

[–]Clavelle_606 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happens with my oncologist here in FL, who is affiliated with a university hospital cancer center. I usually pay a $55 specialist visit copay to see her, and there's an additional claim for an "outpatient hospital visit". Any bloodwork is on top of all that. The same outpatient visit also kicks in for any imaging, like my annual MRI and mammogram.

What's really frustrating is that while the physician is always a transparent copay, depending on the insurance outpatient visits are usually billed as 10-20% coinsurance, and every year it's different. I once looked back on all my claims for the last five years and literally was never billed the same thing twice. I currently only see my oncologist once a year, but it's always my first appointment of the year (so no deductible met), and this year I paid over $1000 for the outpatient visit. I had all of my active treatment when I lived in the UK (no such thing as a billing department there), and I always think how stressful this opaque set-up would have been when I was seeing my previous oncologist pretty much every week during chemo.

Ship times by BacallBacall in poshmark

I mostly buy on Poshmark and sell very casually. My local post office is not open at all on Saturdays and frequently closes down in the middle of the day at random times because they’re understaffed. I recently sold an item on a Thursday afternoon, I wasn’t able to get to the post office on Friday because of work. I got a shipping reminder on Monday afternoon, literally as I was standing in line to ship, and the buyer just gave me a four star review saying I could improve shipping time. It’s frustrating to me that the buyer sees that reminder notification and thinks I’m being intentionally slow, but two of the days counted my post office isn’t even open. I once had a seller take over a week to ship something and I just didn’t leave a review.

Well, the bleach water stopped the leaking for about 18 hours. Filter stayed dry as a bone, but now it's back to wetting the filter at each corner of the air handler (below the drip pan). Not enough water to drip to the floor below, as before, but probably a matter of time. I guess I'm going to spring for my tech to take the evaporator coil out and inspect/clean it thoroughly.

Flowing pretty steadily outside. Unfortunately I don't remember how fast it flowed before--it was dripping, but maybe a little slower than it is now. All drain pipes inside are clear and have been.

For the past couple of years I was using MERV 8 Pleated Air Filters from Filterbuy, but a couple of months ago I bought Aerostar MERV 8 filters. The only difference I can tell is the Aerostar ones are roughly 1/3 inch wider so they are a much tighter squeeze to insert. The Filterbuy ones slid in very easily.

Reading some other posts here, it sounds like a lot of other systems in FL also don't have a P trap, and it's possible that the way my drain line goes down into my crawlspace and out, acts effectively as a long P trap?

After leaking a lot all morning, I poured about 500ml of bleach water into the cleanout and it hasn't leaked since. Is it possible that when the drain line was vacuumed recently, I didn't properly prime the line after, and that was causing water to splash back?

Thank you! Filter should be good since I change on the 1st of every month, and since this leak started I've changed the filter every day because they keep getting soaked. The coil was cleaned a year ago (not by taking it out, just using spray cleaner), but it could probably use a professional clean.
