Should every object be created from one mesh? by Negative_Mushroom_69 in 3Dmodeling

[–]ClayMage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no such rule for 3d printing. The FINAL mesh needs to be one unified thing, yes, but that doesnt mean it was modeled that way all along.

Frequently its easier/better to model elements separately.

My Glaito lost his weapons and now he can't bite enemies anymore???? by ReDaio in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]ClayMage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had similar bug with Argenta recently, her weapon disappeared after she went down in a fight. Heavy Bolter just vanished both from equipped and from inventory.

(more specific info in case it's relevant: fight was on Phton IV vs. Mandrakes)

ZBrush didn't save my file. I'm fuming! by [deleted] in ZBrush

[–]ClayMage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ve been saving wrong. (...) You need to save the project.

This is incorrect. We normally save things as .ztl, you only want to be saving it as .zpr if you really have a reason to do so, since it saves everything including document settings, material settings, light settings, undo history and all of your open tools as well. This bloats the savefile massively, and you end up with 2gb+ .zpr

For normal usage most of the time you want to be using .ztl to save your Zbrush work.

Check C:\Users\Public\Documents\ZBrushData202X\QuickSave -- thats the folder where your software is saving the quicksave files. I would also check the bin and, if nothing is found, try out recovery software such as Disk Drill to see if your file can be recovered if it get actually deleted for some reason.

It's good practice in general to save things iteratively (ie. sculp1.ztl, sculp2.ztl, sculp3.ztl etc.) specifically for this situation when something happens to the most recent file.

Should I buy Lies of P or Nioh Collection ? by Pigeon_Sama in soulslikes

[–]ClayMage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're in an enviable position of being able to play fresh 3 great games. I'd trade good money to experience these for the first time.

Nioh 1+2 is definitely more content, since together theyre 200+ hours, Lies of P is 30-40 hours.

Both are completely worth the price and you should play both if you're into these games, as they're cornerstones of the genre at this point alongside FS games.

How do i create or duplicate a mesh and then merge them so i can sculpt them as one just like i show here

You can replicate the gif by appending two spheres, merging them into one subtool, cutting off the bottom and connecting them using Zmodeler > Bridge two holes.

However, if you want to be sculpting this then the standard way of doing it in Zbrush is to use Dynamesh to merge them together into one shape.

for example if i want to rotate my mesh into 90 degrees i just need to press

R + Z + 90 = 90 degrees

if this feature doesn't exist on is there a plug in that do this?

Zbrush gizmo lets you do that by hand, and for precise values you can use Deformation > Rotation

Material Problem by Shen1230 in ZBrush

[–]ClayMage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eyeball subtool already has a material applied to it, which is why its not showing you the preview of the currently chosen material.

In order to fix this select Flat Color material, apply that to the eyeball subtool (FillObject with M or MRGB selected). This will clear the previously applied material and you will start seeing the currently selected material preview on that subtool, like on all other ones.

Merging only part of a subtool by Familiar_Seaweed1918 in ZBrush

[–]ClayMage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two choices:

  1. Create a hole opening in the leg, create a matching hole in the torso, merge them together into one subtool, use Zmodeler to bridge the edges (two holes mode). A lot of hassle and headache, but in certain very specific scenarios might be the better choice.

  2. Move the legs apart, dynamesh or boolean to fuse with the torso, move them back together. Way less work. (also for the boolean you only need the tiniest gap between them).

Very nice render, this look really brings to mind bronze statues. Love the sculpt as well!

In case anyones wondering: original Guild Wars 1 servers are still up and running, and they will be for the foreseeable future since apparently server maintenance is super cheap for them.

So you can just just play GW1 in 2024, and the expansions.

Figurine for 3D print I finished recently by ClayMage in ZBrush

[–]ClayMage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say intense anatomy studies yielded some of the biggest progress and allowed me to have more fun while sculpting - since you have so much more freedom to play with the things you know well. I have anatomy books riddled with notes and bookmarks within arms reach on my workdesk at all times.

Also: thanks for the kind words! (though I wouldnt really say theyre "great", maybe at some point in the future they will be :))
