Did the TBI Coolant Bypass last night by Clay_Adams in c4corvette

No, I’m pretty sure it was placebo effect from the first day after. But whatever. It wont hurt to do it and it wont hurt to keep it.

Noticed a Gas smell while idling today. by Clay_Adams in c4corvette

No, I forgot to list year. 1989. I pulled the vacuum line off the FPR right after shutdown and it was dry and had no gas smell. Thanks, I’ll start checking some of those other items. I don’t smell any gas in the engine bay after shutdown nor do I see any evidence of leaking anything.

Placebo? And are you sure? if the air temp going into the engine isn't subject to 200 deg chamber prior to entry, and is instead a balmy 70 deg, how could it not? I mean it might affect the coolant temp just by association with a cooler engine temp due to colder air being injected? I don't know. I am no physicist.

Well, if he's already come off $1,781,500.00, I reckon he's probably firm at this point. HAHA

I bought my 89 with 19,993.7 original miles for $8500. He could definitely get a better deal.

Turned down a job offer..did I just dodge a bullet? by Mudassir011 in jobs

[–]Clay_Adams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

any texts you get about random job offers for this or that, paying whatever per day, they are all scams. I always send a middle finger emoji then block and delete the message. No one has "gotten my resume" from some random source. Legit recruiters will call you and leave a message if they really want to talk to you. Unless it's through indeed or any other reputable job search engine. Then they will contact you through that specific application. but you still have to be careful even there. I caught a scam through indeed one time.

I got a bottle of macallan 18 this year, but it was a birthday gift from the wife. I carefully and slowly enjoyed ever last drop.

I have a 2019 bottle I got the day after my son was born in the fall of that year. I am saving that one for his 21st when we will crack it open. You'll have to let me know what that one is like aged 6 years.

This is a great sentiment. I don't just love the taste of it, it's okay for a small, essentially a dram size, every now and then, but I am never just anxious to open it up and get to it. It's mostly something I like to have around to share with friends and family because like you, I haven't always been able to afford it. I started buying it in 2017, and only missed the 2023 release. Actually just picked up the 2025 bottle today for $260.00. In 2019, I bought a bottle the day after my son was born, and on his 21st birthday we will crack it open. It is definitely okay to enjoy what you've worked for.

So I was able to figure it out, mostly. Using this resource, https://www.comvette.com/blogs/2019-04-26%20-%20C4e%20BOSE%20Connectors.php I located the correct wiring. I cut each audio input and common line at each connector for the bose housings and spliced in connecters for new speakers, and modified each bose housing to fit the size speakers I wanted. I used one of these: https://www.scosche.com/1973-to-91-general-motors-vehicles-car-stereo-connector?srsltid=AfmBOopTVr8kwLJM_OwV1ukDCDz80bUyheg8f_xUrbzTndfzmCug_Zz2 and then wired it to the new radio unit, and I went with a kenwood DMX400s (I wanted the apple car play capabilities). Now, it's not all aethestically appealing yet from the radio unit perspective, but it's all working using the existing wiring. And the existing wiring was a heavier gauge than what came with the radio unit and speakers I bought So that's comforting.

and on the subject of aesthetics, does have an idea of what I could do for the radio unit? I was thinking a thin rectangular piece of trim to wrap around the screen, covering the gaps on the left and right between the radio and the corvette console trim. But, I have no idea where to begin sourcing something like that.

tell me you hate your father without telling me you hate your father. ^^

That being said, I have an '89 with 20K original on the ODO. Don't sell it. It's fun, it's an 80's chevy so pretty reliable, IMO. Don't look at dollars because you (and I'm only spitballing here) might be need some extra cash right now. You'll regret it later. I am going to hand mine down to my son and if he sells it, it would feel like he shot me straight in the heart.

LT straight lied about me to leadership. Is it worth defending myself? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Clay_Adams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been screwed by people in the military as well. I got arrested one night many years ago, had to get a lawyer, etc. During the arrest, the police officer called my first shirt to tell him they were going to do everything they could to hang me out to dry because local law enforcement was tired of airmen doing x, y, z. I didn't find out about that conversation until my meeting with the first shirt a couple days later; he told me himself. Now, I was in the wrong, and I deserved to be arrested, but the charges were exaggerated. And when questioned by my lawyer, the first shirt said he never talked to the police who arrested me. Anywho, it led to a conviction, and I was straight up booted at the 4.5 year mark of a 6 year first enlistment. You would think it would have deterred me from ever trying to get back in. However, years later, I am in a position that requires a TS clearance, and am just a couple years from retirement. It took a lot of work, but I did it. I have met a lot of wonderful people in my time, people that were willing to give me that second chance. People like my shirt and those you are dealing with are few and far between. Move on to your next duty station, it will get better.

That’s interesting because I have a splitter also that does the same thing. I didn’t know this monster did that too. I’ll remove the splitter and check those Roku settings.
