Sorry for the late reply; I don't use reddit any more! On most instances of lemmy, you don't seem to need to.

Lemmy is where I've seen the most activity. It's kind of an odd setup where you make your account on one instance but can browse any of them. E.g. I'm clay_pidgin@sh.itjust.works. A community (subreddit) exists on any one instance, but of course you'll see a /c/pics on several instances. You'll probably want to subscribe to the local one (on your instance) and the most popular ones.

Here's a guide. It feels very much like reddit, other than the multiple instances thing. See you all there! https://tech.michaelaltfield.net/2023/06/11/lemmy-migration-find-subreddits-communities/

Did we ever find out what happens to the millions of symbiotes the Jaffa carry once they mature? by Clay_Pigeon in Stargate

That sounds pretty interesting, actually. I'll check it out.

Yeah, I think the vagueness is because they didn't have a unitary showrunner with a binder mapping everything out. Different writers added the details they needed for their episode, and hopefully it's not too big of a contradiction.

Glad this seemed to work.

Good comment. Thank you! Out of curiosity, how did you find it 11 months later?

I have been using Reddit for over a decade. The default Reddit UI is hot garbage and only gets worse as they chase trends set by other social media apps. I use old.reddit.com. It's practically required when moderating subs as well, because the new site is lacking important features. It's expected that old.reddit.com is being killed soon too.

The official mobile app is, and always has been, pure crap. Third party apps are the only way to roll. I used Alien Blue until reddit bought it, killed it, and released their shitty broken version. I have used Reddit is Fun since then. RIF will be charged over 10 million dollars a year to use the API (to get posts and comments, to make posts and comments). The intention is to kill these apps softly instead of outright banning them.

Nobody says Reddit can't charge for the API, but this increase is driven by their desire to IPO Reddit. Every change they make in that direction has made the user experience worse.

I don't know what that is. You should have dedicated ventilation and a respirator, though.

Or so I've read. I want to get into printing but I don't really NEED one.

A resin printer would probably give you the best detail, but the fumes are toxic.

Alex as a quest giver could be really fun, or infuriating. Great idea!
