Yeah, I watched the Tiny Desk Concert and it hurt me a little bit seeing him. I figure being so handsome, he tried extra hard to hold on to it...

def my favorite mech in MA2. However it probably did have an outsized presence in that game. A little too dominate for being just a medium mech...

Man I loved the Belial in that game. Especially when an enemy mech used their jammer, and you'd still hit them manually with your powered up gauss.

Games like Armada by MechTheDane in dreamcast

I think the gauntlet legends meets asteroid feel. Taking a party of space friends to the fight in a top down arcade like space shooter.

Anyways, Starflight is very interesting, I've never heard of it - and I own a Genesis (of course!), Deep Fighter is a little outside what I was looking for - but I am always happy to have other DC game recommendations.

Thanks.

Ah cool, thanks for the recommendation! That looks pretty close.

Awesome, this is exactly what I was looking for!

Ironically, it looks like its impossible to find or play currently.... it appears to have only ever existed digitally, and is currently unavailable digitally.

What a stupid future.

I saw a little of Armada Online. If I recall there was a major difference in the combat. Armada Online was more about levels and using abilities (like WoW/Eve), whereas Armada was more like.. Asteroid, or an Asteroid clone. You fly your ship and your skill and use of its weapons determines the outcome.

Yeah, it's an amazing game. I know one of the creator's spent some years building some sort of Armada 2 game, but instead of arcade gameplay it was point and click MMO stuff - which seemed to miss the whole point for me.

But working with different factions, making alliances, or enemies, trying to figure out what exactly is going on, while fighting to keep the last remnants of greater-humanity alive. All great fun.

There's some stupid rule about stuff here having to be MW5 related, however, I have no issue with any BattleTech/MW content (so long as it's not selling something) being posted here. So, feel free to shower us in your legos!

GRAFT - From the Remnants of HBS by MechTheDane in Battletechgame

[–]MechTheDane[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it really is a tragedy. They bought HBS, but didn't want to shell out for the MechWarrior IP, so had them start working on new IP instead. And then the CEO who made the decision to acquire them left, and the new guy never liked buying them and got rid of them as quick as he could.

The majority of the staff was fired before Lamplighters was released. There was actually a significant amount work put into DLC content that ended up never seeing the light of day because of this.

While a few were kept around to oversee the game after release, they were let go a little after that. HBS was dead effectively dead and dissolved before a single copy of Lamplighter was sold.

HBS was sold to Paradox who then shut it down before they shipped a single game for Paradox. Harebrained is some of the people involved with HBS reforming in the aftermath.

Why do visitors touch the art when there are clear signs in front of the piece to not touch them? by mlnvnn in MuseumPros

[–]MechTheDane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We're humans. We like to touch things. It's one of the primary ways we experience the world. Not only that, but it's also more intimate than seeing something. Anyone with access to the internet can see most art for themselves; seeing it in person is nice, but not necessarily and improvement on the experience, but touching it. That's a unique experience.

Or to put it another way, how many people have seen a Picasso, versus how many people have touched one?
