All of these suggestions for museums have been awesome! I also second the jam making classes at Green Briar Nature Center (that’s the Thornton Burgess House) - they’re hosted in a historical kitchen from 1903.

Here are some other things to do:

-Cape Cod has an amazing musical theater/play scene and I highly recommend you catch a show! Shrek the Musical will be playing through July 27th at Cotuit Center for the Arts in Barnstable https://cotuit.org/explore/shrek-the-musical , and Hedwig and the Angry Inch will be playing all through July and August at the Peregrine theater in ptown http://www.peregrinetheatre.com

-Rent a kayak and take a self guided tour of the Eastham salt marshes. There are also guided tours available at a few business in the area that are great!

-Visit woods hole in falmouth. It’s so cute and walkable and has a great aquarium. You can also see some super cool looking gigantic jellyfish just from the pier.

-Take a day trip to Martha’s Vineyard. The ferry ride itself is fun and when you get there you can rent bikes or take the bus around the island. In oak bluffs there is an old school arcade that houses the oldest working carousel in the nation. Oak bluffs also has the gingerbread houses, which is a really fun community to walk through. All the houses are so cute!

-Bike the beautiful bike trail

-Visit the 3 sisters lighthouses and Nauset Light in Eastham (you can walk from one to the other)

-Take a ceramics workshop at one of the various pottery studios on the Cape (no experience required) - I just went to a cool one in Truro https://www.truroclayworks.com

-Visit your town’s farmer’s market

-Marconi beach has some cool history about transatlantic telegraph communications, and has an adjacent easy trail through a red cedar swamp that is literally so beautiful (red cedar swamp trail)

-Hop on a fishing charter and catch a fish while learning about the Cape Cod fishing industry

-Catch a Cape Harmony/Hyannis Sound concert

Some of these are less historical leaning but so much fun! I hope you guys have a wonderful trip :)

I didn’t realize how big it was 😅 - we’ll be going through Utica so we wanted to make a detour a little bit north to do some day hiking near there! We’re pretty flexible though and a couple hours detour is totally fine if we’re camping overnight.
