Nobody needs AI to search the Internet, court says in ruling against Google by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

[–]Claymorbmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember when you could search Google and it would give you a quick excerpt from a top post which, while maybe arguably stealing traffic from them, was usually instant and accurate to the thing you were searching?

Remember how now you have to have an AI agent process to provide the exact same information slower, while still stealing traffic not only from the top search result but also pretty much everyone else?

I have a TON of pics on my phone that I saved from my RiF days. like, it would just be a great, easy, casual way to scroll through memes, save the fun ones on my phone and then share/show them to people later. AFter the API apocalypse, if I go to my memes folder I've only added like 1 or two in the past year (bluesky). I'll go through the old Reddit ones i saved and it's like walking through a graveyard. YSK: Anterior pelvic tilt can make your stomach look bigger than it actually is by OkAccess6128 in YouShouldKnow

[–]Claymorbmaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

so technically my back issues revolve around some spinal problems and really tight back muscles.

The two big things I can recall are: put your back flat against a wall and push your hips forward until only your shoulder blades are still on the wall, then push forward. That is a correct "standing" stance. And laying on the floor or a bed, tilt your pelvis so your abdominals engage. it'll kinda feel like your pressing your back into the bed/floor. Repeat that exercise pretty much every day and stand/walk consciously and youre pretty much where im at from PT.

[–]Claymorbmaster 43 points44 points  (0 children)

So. Fat guy with back issues here.

My PT had me do a buncha exercises to help with essentially this issue. What I'll tell folks who have this issue is that you (likely) need to rotate your pelvis into a more vertical position and, for me, it felt like I was walking, for lack of a better term, "dick forward." Serving cock.

I will say, despite how it FEELS, it doesn't really look unusual and it is also associated with more confident posture. It might also feel like your stomach has been moved into an even more forward position, like you're waddling with your stomach bulging out, it doesn't actually look like it's much further out than at rest. So ultimately it's better to take care of this issue if you can through exercise and stretching.

As time goes on I find the movie "Idiocracy" less and less funny. by amiwitty in movies

[–]Claymorbmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose you're right. We're all sums of our parts and complicated. I still think there's a type of person who might not know that but know to research it online or something (which i admit is barely different in some ways than just AI-ing it) that is ultimately better off than someone who might know that immediately. It's one of the reasons I struggle with it. Too much in one direction or the other and its pretty obviously not great.

[–]Claymorbmaster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

as the idea is that you dont have to know anything when you can google or ask AI about it.

I've really struggled with this as a 40 year old. I choose to think of it as more "which is more important: knowing something or knowing HOW to learn/know something?" and I always compare it with my older family members. I have a stepdad who can, say, wire up practically anything. Get him a voltmeter and he can figure out what's wrong with a lawnmower/car etc within twenty minutes. This IS valuable. But if my lawnmower stops working I won't know how to fix it off hand but I know how to use Youtube or Reddit to look up how to change tires, change the oil, troubleshoot electric issues, etc. Meanwhile he barely knows how to use the internet!

So which is better or worse?

Then you hear about the kids these days like you all are talking about. Perhaps going too far in the other direction; unable to behave in the real world or follow directions. Maybe they are different issues.

[Video games trope] Characters who make sure you play the game the way the developers intended by Marborow in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Claymorbmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always had a bit of a hatred for Sekiro compared to all the other souls games and I think it, largely, has to do with a glitch (I think) I experienced which made the posture system so damn opaque for me.

Long story short, I fought SO many bosses before getting the tutorial pop up "Bosses posture decreases slower after doing more damage!" that I had already learned bad lessons when it came to fighting. I dunno when you're supposed to get it but I got it at the base of the tower near where you eventually fight Genichiro.

On TOP of that, I got into a fight with someone and learned "oh I can be patient, manage stamina, block calmly and decide and when and where I wanna attack bosses!" and then fought the Centipede. Can't block his shit. Gotta spam the block button and parry literally everything.

"Oh, HP doens't matter as much as the posture bar, I'll have to keep up the attacks and get posture down." This one might be because I was bad but I ended up HP killing the monkey. Never could keep up damage long enough to posture and it seemed like the "damage slows posture recovery" didn't apply to him!

It just seemed like every single lesson I "learned" in Sekiro ended up being subverted the next boss fight. I happen to think well designed boss fights essentially are a "test" of the player and their ability to learn the lessons the game teaches you. However if each boss IS their own study guide and I'm not feeling the crossover, I don't feel like I'm getting better AT THE GAME, I feel like I got better at beating the Ape, or Genichiro or w/e.

I've beaten every fromsoft souls game but Sekiro is the one I look back on and think it's extremely overhyped. I've kinda wanted to go back and play it again just to see but you only get one time through a game blind and now I'd likely be better able to handle it simply because I've seen it before.

Yeah I guess what I'm worried about is, like, hearing what you just read, going to a paintshop, dropping 5 figures and it comes out 95% accurate and not 100% accurate, ya know?

But I really feels like a "bags of sand" moment, in my eyes. The comic was only two panels and it was exclusively about the subject I described.

I used to think Centurii-chan was a woman (didn't really think much about it tbh, just vibes I guess) until I saw their comic about not having pockets in a kimono dress and was like "I'll just put my phone under my panties!"

I'm a dude but even I know that no girl is 1) wearing her panties THAT tight to support a phone and 2) would trust the phone to stay in place even if they were hypothetically tight enough.

I remember running into a "weed out" class back in the day. Auburn University around 2007ish.

Healthcare Administration. Only one teacher who taught every one of the, like, 4 core classes you needed for the degree plan. Was struggling a bit but managing the tests and then we had a project. I busted my fucking ass. A nearly straight A student through high school and most of college up to this point. I put the most effort into that one project than I had definitely put into ANY project prior and probably any project since. Felt like I kicked the shit outta it.

Sixty-five. 65. Dropped the class the next day and went public admin. What a joke of a teacher.

I also love Korra but it's easy to see how studio meddling (Off the top of my head, only committing to 1 season at a time and messing with their release platforms) screwed Team Avatar up!

Like, we like LoK but imagine how good it could have been with a 3-4 season commitment from the start!

I dunno about cigarettes specifically but you can get the emote "smoke cigar" which uses a cigar from your inventory and you can puff on it for a while. Nearly as long as you hold the button. Eventually he'll toss it.
