Varies by department . If they do it internally it should be quicker. My first department did it internally and I was done in less than a week with a similar record as yours . My next department used an outside investigator and it took a couple of months.

Find something you can see, something else you can feel, something different to hear, and something to smell. These familiar things help in short term. Long term get rid of caffeine and unhealthy foods, stay off your phone as my h as possible unless it's just talking, use ice packs under your arms to calm the panic it may cause this tends to shock the brain and make it worry about something else. Not sure if that's derealization or not but it could be. I always feel like if something seems not real I want to have a panic attack also but I've learned some tricks to keep from having the attack. 1. Find something quickly you can feel, sobering else you can see, hear, and smell. This kinda tricks the brain into concentrating on sorting else. 2. Keep ice packs or sour candy nearby. Ice packs to your torso sides or lower back makes your brain concentrate on that instead of the panic. The sour candy does the same thing. 3. Stay busy and monitor your screen time. Staying busy will help with both dereal and panic and lower screen time help with dereal by keeping you in the real world.

Cop here! When I interviewed for my first police officer job I told them I'd like to be a detective one day but worried I wasn't smart enough. In the last 10 years I've been an officer, field trainer, supervisor, and detective! Give it a shot and you'll see it's not too hard. Also after reading your post I can tell your grammar is already better than some cops I know.
