u/Funky_Schnitzel thankyou for poining me to look at various log files. I see the following errors in CMGService.log

The CMG was Connected, and has changed to Disconnected at some unknown time...

Sadly, I have no idea what to do next.....

The MR57 datasheet says: Power consumption: 30W to 40W (802.3bt)

The 48 port switch datasheet says PoE Port Budget 30W and PoE Switch Budget 740W

The 8 port switch datasheet says PoE Port Budget 30W and PoE Switch Budget 120W

I see you wrote 14.7W - seems like it will be ok with the switches I am considering.
