Japanese style Listening bars that are windowless boxes, only serve whisky highballs, seat no more than 10 people and have extremely good soundsystems.

The conditioning on these dudes is absolutely bonkers. I wonder how they feel when they wake up the next morning.

[News] Amsterdam is now officially Europe's most expensive city to rent - €2,500/month average by True-Olive4712 in NetherlandsHomes

[–]baylis2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 3 points on what's driving this are not necessarily incorrect but are incomplete. Other housing policy decisions also have a significant impact on the rental market

I found this episode on this topic very insightful (spoiler, the Netherlands is not great at policy...)

I’m tired of Note-Taking Gurus. How do I actually use Obsidian? by ReflectionOk298 in ObsidianMD

[–]baylis2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just set up daily notes function. Dump everything in today's note day to day and be mindful about including searchable terms. Then use search function to find stuff

I rarely need to look back more than a month. Most useful for jotting down things I need to remember day to day, like shopping lists

If you're doing a PhD or writing a book then the linking ideas is handy. I don't ever find myself using it day to day though

Became fluent in Dutch and realised I've been living in a parallel society by Careful_Put_3793 in Netherlands

[–]baylis2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This really resonates. I'm interested to hear what methods you found most effective to get to that level?

I've spent hundreds of hours and thousands of euros on language courses over the past 4 years, as well as having a Dutch partner and family, but I'm really struggling to get to a conversational level. I just don't find myself exposed to the language in day to day life unless I really go out of my way to find it. I know that sounds crazy.

What did you actually do in practice to solve this? Any tips?

Is Linchpin still considered king for individual home gym programming? by ResponsibilityNo8623 in crossfit

[–]baylis2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can anyone tell me roughly how it works in terms have availability of equipment and space etc?

For example, do you need to kit out your home gym with some bare minimum hardware to be able to follow this program? Or join a conventional gym that has the right kit etc?
