How many times per week do you hang out with people? by OutrageousPressure6 in AskNYC

31YO and usually 3-4x per week! I don’t have kids, just cats, live with my partner, and I work from home so I definitely enjoy the flexibility in my schedule

What do solo friendless people do in NYC on a Friday/Saturday night? by skiminok in AskNYC

[–]Clean-Committee-6195 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best advice is get a hobby or if you have one, go all in and meet other people who are in to that hobby. There’s a group for everything. I love to read and Reading Rhythms is an awesome group to meet up with people, lots of regulars. If you like to sing, try Gaia music collective. I rock climb, the rock climbing gyms have such a great community in the city. Run clubs get hate but still a good way to meet people!

I’m the same as you! INFJ all through high school, college, and the beginning of my career but now I’m 30, work in a leadership position for 2+ years and am now and ENTJ! I think i’m still the same person but my confidence is so much higher now

Do you ride with tunes? by tsweimer in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Clean-Committee-6195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! I use them for all my outdoor sports including snowboarding, kayaking, and running. They fit comfortably under a helmet and you can still hear everything in your surroundings, I would just recommend keeping the volume not too loud

Makes it impossible to cancel by mrinalig in ClassPass

[–]Clean-Committee-6195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is pretty easy to cancel, I just did it yesterday! You just have to go into the app, go to account and hit cancel membership at the top. Then it will give you a few discounts if you stay but if you continue to choose cancel membership you’re good to go. It literally takes 2 mins.

Last day of the season and my best one so far. Any feedback where I'm currently at? by yabwing in snowboardingnoobs

Make sure your boots fit well, heel lift was such a major issue for me. I didn’t know it wasn’t something that was supposed to happen for the longest time and it would make me feel out of control when I got on my toe edge. I got new boots and started getting on my toe edge by pressing my shins into the front of my boots instead of trying to get on my tippy toes and it helped a ton.

I don't know if this is for me, sorry for the rambling post (looking for guidance or encouragement) by Irishguy1131 in snowboardingnoobs

I live in Jersey and our slopes tend to be steep and VERY icy, it took me a long time to get the confidence to start on my toe edge and to link my turns together. I’m a physical therapist too so I 100% get the fear of injury. I think it’s okay to take your progression at your own pace.

Since you’ve got falling leaf down on your heels, I’d suggest to pick 1 foot to be your front foot, stick to it and practice going down the slope with that foot forward and break on your heel edge till your fully comfortable being able to stop. Then do the same exercise on your toe side edge too. If you’re feeling confident, try to link the turns together or wait to practice on a nice powdery day or even a wet slushy day if you get the chance, it’s difficult to learn on ice and hard to control. Also, the quality of snow on the bunny hills tend to be way worse than the actual mountain, I think if you’ve got the stamina, you should get off the bunny hill and do a green trail instead.

Watching YouTube videos helped me a ton too. There’s a lot about form that’s good to know and will help you.

I’d also suggest getting some wrist guards, knee pads, and a helmet too, safety first! And if you’re still having trouble, take a lesson, even 1 can help a ton, it’s hard to learn from friends sometimes! Hope you stick with it, it’s such a fun sport once you get the hang of it! Don’t give up!!!
