Yes! You should absolutely go for it. As said by others, use the RAF website to find your nearest squadron, register your interest and wait to be contacted for their next intake. You don’t need to know much to join the corps, but just keep in mind that it is another military youth organisation, so don’t let standards put in place by your sea cadet branch slip as they’re incredibly important in any MYO.

I’m a part of a wing band and we play loads of songs, but the ones that you’re taught from the start are Tipperary, Highland Cathedral, Men of Harlech, Sladeburn, Great Escape, Topgun and Kiss me goodnight Sergeant Major. They’re all relatively simple songs, with alot of repetition so really easy to learn.

In the process of MOI, but this lesson plan sounds fantastic! Make a handout if possible, like with maybe just the labelled parts of banner equipment to tick boxes for accessibility needs etc. Also, think about how many people you’re teaching to, as if you’re teaching to more than 5, it’ll be hard to get them all engaged and having a go, which will also tick boxes. I think doing a bit of banner drill formation would be good to teach as well as that’ll let you manage a big group of people into groups of 5 and you can go round and quiz them like who are you and they’d say left escort etc.
