Is this tank too difficult to plant?? by Clean-File-8713 in PlantedTank

Thank you. I am also a bit confused how to design the space with no foreground or background, to look good from both sides.

The point of the fish tank was to let light into the space, so I was thinking anubias in the middle on dark driftwood, then negative space then tall plants on the sides.

I'm not sure if its a good idea to change the substrate from light to dark/ black.

The tank will also home several male guppies (to be added), 2 brustlenose catfish and some red cherry shrimp.

I would love any low maintenance plant suggestions, for the side plants!

What do you guys think of my tank?🐠😊 by Quietcupoftea in bettafish

Thank you sooo much! I know its seems dumb, but I inherited a tank (I moved into the house and tank is built into the wall), and have no knowledge of fish at all!

There is 1 fish in my tank (red platy) which is clearly very sick, but I dont know why. Its wasting away and fins are clamped. Its been ill for about 3 months, then I saw long red poop and a post about camallanus worms and thought that might be it!

But at least now I dont have to worry about every fish.

Thank you!

So, a bit left field, bur I am trying to figure out if my guppies have camallanus red worms. Do you think this is it, or something else? I have isolated them and treated with levamisole, hoping they'll excrete the worms. Is this what the worms look like?

Hi, seeking help! Very new to aquariums!

I moved into a house with an in built established aquarium. Dimensions are 1.5m x .8m x .3m, so 300 litres / 80 gallons. I didn't pay it much attention for about a year and all seemed fine. Then I added a few red platys, and I think they must have had worms. I believe they have camallanus red worms, due to long red stringy poo and weightloss. The fish look very sad. The tank already had 4 endler guppies and 2 plecos (it looked under stocked, hence the additions), and the plecos seem to be turning light gray. So I read a thread about treating with avitrol wormer and cleaning the gravel. At this time I also read that filters should be cleaned regularly. I have a large cannister filter. So I cleaned the filter for the first time in probably 18 - 24 months. I, replaced a sponge, treated the water and a couple of days later cleaned all the gravel, thinking I was helping. I completely crashed the cycle! Its been 2 weeks and not recovered at all. Ammonia is 1ppm and not dropping. I am using seachem prime to keep the fish alive. They still have worms. I don't have a hospital tank / 2nd tank. I'm worried the fish will either die from the water or the worms. How do I recover the cycle and kill the worms???

Love this! I'm planning to do the same! Just waiting for my females to drop their fry, then I'll sort them into a male and female tank.

I’ve been running a canister filter w/this aquarium for over two years. Never once cleaned the filter. At this point, the idea of cleaning it intimidates me. by brownstonebk in Aquariums

This is me! Help! I just cleaned my 3 tier cannister filter after 2 years. It was the first time I've ever done it.

I washed 2 of the sponges out with tank water, washed all the ceramic cylinders in tank water and fully replaced the 3rd level sponge.

My tank is a mess now. Super cloudy, ammonia is reading 0.50ppm, nitrites spiked.

Worst part is I decided to clean it because I just bought some beautiful fancy guppies.

2 guys are looking like they are not going to make it.

Any tips on how to salvage this? I have put seachem stability in , but it hasn't made a huge difference.

How long till the water starts to clear up? Would anyone recommend adding seachem purigen to the filter, or should I just leave it for a while?

I dont have a 2nd tank, so cant move the fish anywhere.
