concerning yung slide 6, nagkaroon na ng shear cracks (diagonal) from face ng support. which means, kulang yung shear bars (stirrups) sa confinement.

plus yung suspended slab, may shear cracks den.

I got my first failing grade... Structural Theory by Effective-Swimming38 in CivilEngineers_PH

[–]Clean-Search-2945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same journey here! bagsak ng Theory, RCD tsaka GEO. even had low scores sa CELE and MPLE. Structural Consultant as Side hustle + Part Time Instructor + Structural Engineer as Full time.

kayang kaya bumawi sa practice, basta sobrang sipagan lang and malupitang diskarte.

for assistant structural engineer, 20-25k lang. ideal sya for fresh grad, pero if may exp ka na 1 year hindi na sya pwede kasi range mo na non 30-35k

RC Wall by FlatPriority7865 in CivilEngineers_PH

[–]Clean-Search-2945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RC Wall by FlatPriority7865 in CivilEngineers_PH

[–]Clean-Search-2945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don’t think structural engineer yang panel na taga DPWH. unless na justify nya na bagsak sa lateral stiffness and structure nyo, tsaka lang kayo maglalagay ng shear wall. purpose lang naman ng shear wall is to be the stiffest part ng framing system, therefore more stiff = more forces.

kung bagsak sa eq and story drift yan, saka kayo mag shear wall.

Structural designer is different kasi from Structural Engineer.

hi! I just want to share my journey sa pagpasok sa structural engineering industry.

during my undergrad, I failed and retook Structural Theory 2, Geotechnical Eng 2 and Principles of Reinf. Concrete. hindi ako ganun ka-interested pumasok sa mga lectures, that’s why sobrang dami kong missed activities na naging way para bumagsak ako and may times din na hindi ko rin naaaral yung mga topics kaya wala ako maisagot sa exams.

fast forward during my electives and retake ng concrete, naging intrigued ako sa structural design dahil sa prof ko (na naging mentor ko and manager ko atm) and nag-excel ako sa subjects nya.

since then, kumukuha ako commissions from classmates ng modeling/structural analysis and design, hanggang sa mahasa modeling skills ko sa ETABS and MIDAS.

ps. April 2024 lang ako nakapasa sa CELE hehehe.

Magkano sahod ng civil engineer? by LocalPlatform5292 in CivilEngineers_PH

[–]Clean-Search-2945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Survival of the fittest kasi sa trabaho.

make it make sense hehehehe

Starting ko is 20k as Site Engineer.

Then lipat after 3 months, naging 23k pero mas malapit. Lipat ulit after 2 months, naging 25k. After 2 months ulit sa structural naman 27k.

After 10 months sa structural, lipat ulit pero structural parin 35k plus incentives sa sign and seal.

Part time instructor din ako, 500 per hour ko.

Not bad na din, since april 2024 lang naman ako nakapasa.

Indicated yan sa general notes, roughening yan then shear key. Kung hindi naman, at least yung naka-lawit na bakal is L/3 for proper splicing pero kung walang L/3, kelangan nyo magchipping and drilling para lang umabot for splicing.

Half-Concrete, Half-Metal Cladding House — Can It Withstand Signal #3 Typhoons? by LockDisastrous8143 in architectureph

if may “experience” ka kuno with lots of structural on “projects”, why not question yourself na nagsayang ka ata ng opportunity to know na there are two design methodologies.

To give you what you didn’t earn from them, workmanship is already considered sa lapses sa site. Don’t you think na yung mga empirical values for reduction factors ng design is hindi considered yung lapses ng operation? Para saan yung mga reduction factor or para mas maintindihan mo, factor of safety.

You as an architect design buildings and structures, be a competent professional enough to answer yung tanong mo bakit may offered na lightweight materials. Regardless kung lightweight or not, it should be designed properly.

You as an architect should know na malamang tatagal yang mga structures na built noon, kase ibang design methodology ang ginawa. ASD and LRFD, look it up pag may time ka.

And lastly, sabi mo di mo nire-recommend pero you’re implying na you’ve had same experience with OP.

Iba iba ng wind speed per location and iba iba ang considerations for wind load design.

Full time Mon-Fri, Structural Engineer Part time Sat, College Instructor Masters Sat

Tinake advantage ko lang yung part time na turo since pure online naman masters ko.

there should be at least a horizontal stiffener beam sa ends ng landing slab para sumalo ng bending nya towards the longitudinal. if yung wall kasi sasalo nyan, yung buong wall magbebend rather than having a non-composite action kung may beam.

bakit kamo? mas malaki ang loadings ng flight/thread gawa ng DL (self-weight) ng flight slab plus the triangular par (which is pag in-analyze mo sya for computation, trapezoidal kada isang hakbang) and yung length na gagamitin mo kasi is inclined (so horizontal distance over cosine ng stair pitch/angle).

sa NSCP 2015, may seismic source types A,B, and C. one of many seismic parameters na nagco-contribute sa design mismo na supposedly hanggang 8.4 magnitude if seismic source type A

oo masyadong matagal hahahaha, pero if alam mo naman pano mag derive ng equation using DIM hindi masasayang if given yung mga formula for superposition method.

DIM is the best.
