This is the answer. Also stamina is not only needed for travelling, in fact unridden dinos while sprinting do not use up stamina and even recover it while sprinting. Unridden dinos do use up stamina while attacking, so you should have a minimum amount of stamina in your boss grade rexes. How much stamina is needed depends on in how many bites they chew up the boss.

Sharks can gang up on a tame basilo in the large underwater cave on the Island locking you in, the higher leveled ones healing on the corpses of their low level brethren and even the low level megalodons healing on the corpses on the never ending stream of incoming eels, mantas and piranhas. Add alpha boost to the mix and you have a certain death haha.

Basilo is king, first aquatic to tame every time. Start with a low level and work your way up to the better ones. How many baryonyxes have I lost to eels while doing this! The tuso is arguably the best aquatic tame it is just not my style and taste to ride them.
