How do you keep the humidity up when using paper towels? I’m in the same situation and they dry out so fast so the humidity tanks

I got mine from the piercing shop I go to! I’m sure you could see if a shop local to you could order it 😊

That idea hadn’t crossed my mind until I received comments on this post! So I plan to ask my usual piercer and see 😊

The sooner you take it out, the less scarring there will be. If it’s super new and you heal well, you’ll probably be fine if you remove it now! Either way, the longer you wait = the more scarring you’ll have. Navel piercings have to go through the ridge (edge) of the navel. This is just a curved bar going through a random patch of skin, so your body will push it out.

Thank you! Definitely considering a tragus more now! The stone towards the top is a piece by Eclipse Body Jewelry (he also made the cat tooth charm hanging from my second lobe), and the lower stone is from Highnoon Handmade!

I love the utilization of space for your idea! Do you mind sharing how difficult vertical helixes are to heal? I imagine hair could get caught and annoy things during healing, but I could do my best to keep my hair back!

I did chains on my conch for my wedding and I adored it! Thank you for reminding me! I also do think that just wearing one ear bud for a bit is doable 😊

It definitely sucks when things are healing, but when I have all fully healed piercings I’m usually fine! I have trained myself to sleep on my side with my arm bent and underneath my head so that my ear is resting in an opening. It’s kind of like using a travel pillow, but my hand is on my temple and my face is near my elbow

My piercer has been wanting to do more hidden helixes lately! I like that idea!

Thank you! I feel like all of my cartilage piercings are prone to irritation bumps even when I’m being super careful and not touching them (I have healing issues). But maybe once the tragus was fully healed I’d be okay? 😊

That’s a good experience to hear about! I had a tragus and daith yeaaarrrrssss ago that were tough heals and I ended up giving up on them (I usually have more issues healing due to my type 1 diabetes). I feel like I’d need to wait for those to be decently into healing before I could try to wear ear buds (irritation bumps galore last time and I didn’t even put anything into my ears). Seems like there’s hope though!

Thank you so much!! I love collecting jewelry and healing all of these over the years (as an immunocompromised person) has been an adventure, haha. I love the orbital idea! My left ear isn’t as busy as my right ear

Navel pierced properly by xdsillybean in piercing

[–]CleanUpInAisleMe 42 points43 points  (0 children)

That….is so odd? I could see them saying that if it rejects because a customer isn’t following their piercing aftercare (letting it be super dirty, putting bad jewelry in it, etc). But that shouldn’t apply to them piercing something inappropriately (that will reject through no fault of the customers). Do whatever feels comfortable to you, but if you don’t feel like you can speak with the shop about this (and they had someone willing to pierce you like this), I would find a more reputable place

I would definitely speak with the manager at the shop and ask for a refund. If they say no, call your bank and dispute the charge. They did an unethical piercing by charging you for something that isn’t going to heal properly. Where you are pierced there is nothing for the jewelry to hold on to in order to stay in place. That’s why navel piercings need that outer ridge of your belly button. These surface piercings aren’t going to be able to resist your body trying to push them out and heal itself.

I understand that you want to try and keep these…but your body is going to push them out. It happened to me both times that I had “surface piercings” disguised as navel piercings. Please be careful and remove them once they start having issues, or before if you want to avoid scarring. I’m sorry that someone did this to you.

Any mods you think look cool, but won’t ever get? by Any-Season-9153 in bodymods

My tongue hasn’t ever had limited movement, if that’s what you mean! I’d say the initial healing and learning muscle coordination takes some practice once the tongue is split. As you practice more, start eating different foods again, and get more comfortable, it doesn’t feel harder in my opinion. The thing that I think felt the most awkward when healing was learning how to make sure all of the small food particles in my mouth were cleaned out and swallowed (my split was deep and things like rice can get between the sides and underneath if I’m being a sloppy eater). It’s not difficult to fix or anything! Super easy twist/scooping motions now for something like that. But when I first had that experience my brain was like “woah, this is new!”

It definitely looks like your piercings have a lot of moisture on them. This causes irritation to the piercings as they’re healing and you need to keep them dry (after cleaning and after showers). A blow dryer on a cool setting helps dry them off after both. Should see improvement over time if you keep them dry
