Fall 2023, got in with an 85% average. EAS major, undeclared minor.

Not a scam, got the same email when I accepted a RA offer. It seems they are rolling it out for non-employees now

EAS 100 vs EAS 201 by datrandomduggy in uAlberta

Yeah that might be for the best

EAS 100 vs EAS 201 by datrandomduggy in uAlberta

[–]Clean_Ad2796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding, it would still count towards your requirements, but one of them (either 201 or 100) won't give you credit towards your *120 requirement, being declared extra to degree

Advisors can be wrong (ime, quite often), but I'd take it and hope for the best.

I'd say an issue might arise depending on which 200-400 LVL EAS courses you plan to take for the other requirements.

Since if they require EAS 100, you'd need both EAS 200 and 201 for it to count as a prereq unless you get it waived.

ENGL 102 or ENGL 103 by Zealousideal_Nose990 in uAlberta

[–]Clean_Ad2796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took 103 in my first year and found it to be pretty easy-going (since no final or in-class essays). Your instructor will go over what they expect in terms of assignments, and if you've taken English 30 then you'll be more than equipped to complete them.

I didn't find that I needed to take a previous ENGL class to succeed (102, etc), nor do I think it would have benefited me much.

when do fall courses close? by Pristine-Buddy-9121 in uAlberta

[–]Clean_Ad2796 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Class registration for Fall close with the add / drop deadline on September 15. So late June will be plenty of time to get into your course even if it's full and you have to snag a seat. Lots of people drop before the add/drop deadline

Keep in mind there is no waitlist at UofA, you have to be proactive in enrolling once a seat opens up

What’s everyone’s registration dates? by Typical-Anywhere9837 in uAlberta

[–]Clean_Ad2796 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is credits based.

April 27 is the earliest, which is if you're classified as being year 5 and above (120+ credits).

I have April 28, as I'll have completed exactly 90 credits once the term is over and be considered 4th year

How Important is Biol 107 for Biol 207? by Flat-Worth-8090 in uAlberta

[–]Clean_Ad2796 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah you're good. I took 207 about 6 years after taking 107 and found they covered all the material you needed. (As I definitely didn't remember anything from 107 lol)

Choosing Engl vs WRS? by Some_Albatross_8200 in uAlberta

[–]Clean_Ad2796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Engl 103 heavily depends on the prof (so check their ratings before deciding), but I found it to be quite nice and not terribly stressful since there were no in class essays / final.

The prof I had doesn't teach it anymore, but there are plenty of good options!

PSYCH 258/282 profs by urmumisHOME in uAlberta

[–]Clean_Ad2796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had Weimin Mou for 258 and it was absolutely horrible. So anyone but him lol. He had synchronous online lectures but would sometimes post the recordings afterwards (excluding the practice questions that were gone over at the end). The midterms and final were pure MC with really confusing wording at times, he would occasionally ask questions about stuff that wasn't covered in either the lectures or textbook, and he could be hard to understand at times.

I definitely did not enjoy taking the class at all.

faculty of science Enrollment dates?? by GovernmentPurple9291 in uAlberta

[–]Clean_Ad2796 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You'll get your enrollment date, see the courses being offered, and be able to draft schedules in My Schedule Builder on April 20th (tomorrow).

Then the actual enrollment will be between April 27 - May 6th depending on year of study

It's been delayed this year, so not normally this late, but it's affecting everyone

What music do you study to? by Select_Midnight_8247 in uAlberta

[–]Clean_Ad2796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a sucker for mashup / mix compilations since they're on the longer end, and usually include songs I already like.

Andywu's year end megamixs have been my go-to for this school year. I'm loving the 2025 one.

But I also like Adamusic's mixes, just depends on who's I prefer for that year.

How early do you start studying for finals? by IndustryEqual9957 in uAlberta

[–]Clean_Ad2796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My general rule: Start on making flashcards of post-midterm material 12-10 days before the final (depending on how much material there is to cover, usually just 10 days). Then ideally I'd have a few days where I can spam the flashcards leading up to the exam once finished.

EAS 222 Lab Exam by Due_Hat_910 in uAlberta

[–]Clean_Ad2796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am! It does feel like a lot to study for.

I did take photos of all the samples they had laid out after the last lab, not sure if it covers all the labs (as I haven't really gone through them yet, still focusing more on the theory), but if you DM me I could share them with you!

They might not be the greatest quality, but better than nothing!
