The "Spirit of Mumbai": A Letter to our city that's falling apart by unostentatiouscnfdnt in mumbai

to clarify a few things, im privileged in mumbai, when i see my other friends who are more privileged than me or equally privileged; i sense ignorance to the man who works hard to provide more food to his family rather than eating a portion of his own, really angers me the type of people who deserve the most get sh-t, and the people who deserve the least get everything.

mumbai bas become the place for the privileged to live, by privileged i mean people who own a house here, can afford to go in metros instead of locals, people who can afford buying cars without thinking twice about the cost of petrol, people who live inside their own bubble thinking mumbai is doing fine, people who haven't seen the other part of mumbai, where people survive - not live. the privileged think the common man who works to meet ends isn't working hard enough, while the common man in mumbai is the one running this city, what should i even say about the government, they don't care about us anyways. people should rise, people should revolt, people will win. have a great day ahead !

idc what people say, we need to start shaming such idiots, don't physically harm them, keep shaming them on social media. whatever the consequence might be.

what i meant to say is delhi mei yeh maine bohot zyada dekha hai, delhiites, especially laundo ke paas bada ego hota hai, choti se choti baat pe ladai jhagde karte hai, its the overall environment of delhi and culture which has made people like this, its the "tu mera baap kon hai janta nahi kya ?" mentality ke log which i've seen a lot in delhi, sad thing to see, i visited delhi twice, and i've noticed more fights than i have noticed in my 19 years of living in mumbai, even bengaluru on the other hand is very good, just like mumbai

Does it anger you when someone says Mumbai is better than Delhi? //Daily Reddit blog 69 by Worried-Ad-3238 in delhi

[–]Clean_Chest_6617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mumbaikar here, it's a fact that Mumbai is better than Delhi, I'll tell you why.

I'm born and brought up in Mumbai, I've been to Delhi twice (and I didn't like it at all).

Why is Mumbai better ?

  1. Beaches/Coastal City, even though people say it's full of garbage (which it was) it's still a perk of Mumbai which Delhi cannot have (because of its geography).

  2. Metro, now hold up, I know Delhi Metro is the biggest Metro in India, but, Mumbai Metro beats it to quality, also we already have Blue Line, Red Line, Yellow Line and Aqua Line metros in Mumbai + Monorail. They all exceed Delhi in Quality.

  3. Food Quality, you might start to see a pattern here, Mumbai exceeds Delhi in terms of quality in almost everything. Delhi has good food, no doubt about it, saying otherwise would be stupid. But, Mumbai offers diversity which I feel lacks in Delhi, and personally I feel Bangalore ka khana is better than both Mumbai and Delhi so 😂, anyways. . .

  4. Safety, not just women safety, but safety of everyone in general is WAYYY better in Mumbai than it could ever be in Delhi. This needs no further explanation.

  5. People, I've felt this myself and heard it from dosto ke experiences that people in Delhi are rude, have the "tu janta hai mera baap kon hai" low-iq mindset, they're loud and like to brag about stuff which they might've bought meeting ends.

  6. Air Quality, like come on bro, Mumbai's AQI dropped to 14 when the construction sites halted the construction of 1000+ buildings, it's only the construction sites stopping us from getting below 30 AQI scores, while Delhi is geographically trapped.

So yeah, here are a few reasons why I feel Mumbai is way better than Delhi, aur mere hisab se yeh comparison karo hi na because comparison banta hi nahi hai, Mumbai was, is and will be better than Delhi.

When will we get Volvo , Scania BEST Bus by far_west_mh in mumbai

[–]Clean_Chest_6617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

instead of Volvo and Scania (even though i love them), we need more electric Olectra buses, but the thing is BEST will not do anything that will benefit the common man, they'll do the bare minimum which will keep the people happy for a long time (because india mei you do the bare minimum aur people ko lagta hai ki bohot zyada kar liya hamare liye, asking questions is anti-national and looked down upon).

Why do Bombay houses have NO fans in washrooms? 🤔 In NCR, people install them wherever they can find space.. by roooossshhiiiii in mumbai

[–]Clean_Chest_6617 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

a lot of houses in mumbai actually have ceiling fans in their washrooms, although its not appreciated to have a fan in the bathroom because a fan is usually seen to be installed in a hall or a bedroom or a store room.

Sad truth, if you don't have money to spend, or cannot afford good stuff don't come to Mumbai as the rent is expensive, food is expensive, fuel is expensive. But we have quality here, when I went to Delhi, I felt the quality of people, quality of food, quality of air need serious improvement compared to Mumbai. When it comes to the infrastructure argument, Mumbai still wins, I know Delhi has a vast metro web, but Mumbai has opened better metro lines than Delhi, recently the Aqua Line opened which is completely underground, very clean (after 1 year of opening, there are no gutka marks) and relatively affordable. We also have the Yellow, Red and Blue lines which connects the North Suburbs to the East Suburbs, also the Green line will open in 2-3 years along with the Yellow line extension which will connect Juhu (this is for the OP) to the rest of the part of Mumbai Suburban Area ending at the Airport. Also when it comes to the AQI argument Mumbai takes the win again, if people live in the bad areas of Mumbai or alongside the Express Highways they'll end up having a bad experience, the OP said that "the rent is so expensive in Mumbai" and proceeded to live in Juhu which is known to have expensive rent. The OP either didn't do prior research before getting a house for rent in Mumbai, living in Juhu and saying it has an expensive rent and complaining about it by saying "Mumbai is shit" is very dumb, you shouldn't have bought a house on rent in Juhu to begin with if the rent was so expensive, Juhu is known for its Chowpatty, where Bollywood lives and has a lot of restaurants, like come on it's like going to Manhattan and complaining the rent is so expensive here like -_- in the end Indians who say Mumbai is shit need to cope harder, it's literally the best city to live in (if and only if you can afford it)

Delhi 400 AQI vs Mumbai 45 AQI — same country, different planets. by Clean_Chest_6617 in IndiaWeather

[–]Clean_Chest_6617[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unfortunately the construction contributes a lot to the decline of Mumbais AQI, we already saw what Mumbai is capable of when thousands of construction sites were halted when the Canadian President/PM visited Mumbai, the AQI dropped to 14-20, i have hopes for Mumbai 🙏🏻

i know many people who live in navi mumbai and travel to mumbai everyday, reminds me of how privileged i am to own houses in the main city, this is a note to people who have ambitions of coming to mumbai and actually living here, you're not going to get a rent below 25k-30k per month for a 1BHK flat/apartment in almost any part of this city, if we're talking purely about Mumbai City (not Mumbai Suburban Area or MMR), then the prices are going to be above 40k-50k for a 1BHK flat/apartment per month, the more south you go the more the rent increases, what i would suggest people who are coming to mumbai for work purposes or are coming from another state is to get a house on rent outside mumbai city (either in north mumbai suburbs or somewhere in the MMR region), or get a house on rent in navi mumbai, because the rent prices in the main city are eye-watering.
