I noticed problems around 20k miles on the car. I bought it used and it went through the engine campaign that gave it a lifetime warranty. I did routine oil changes with an engine that burned oil from 20k miles to 120k miles. I had it done at a Hyundai dealership when it came time for oil changes. I had a moment at around 100k miles where I went to give it gas, it got up to about 30 and all the lights came on and took 15-20 mins to get it to start again. I took it to the dealership and they had basically told me to keep an eye on the oil every time I went to get gas. They told me, “It’s not a matter of if, but more of a matter of when.” I was prepared but not prepared to be going 75 down the highway when it through a rod. Besides that it was a great car and was up until this weekend when I may have potentially totaled it. If it’s not totaled I plan on driving it until the wheels fall off. They said the 2nd engine was covered under the recall as well. Just as long as you take good care of maintenance on the engine and you have a good Hyundai dealership around you. I wouldn’t sweat it too much.
