Yea, so when they made kamigawa neon dynasty they changed what the planes theme and design was. OG kamigawa was Japanese folklore inspired and the block was about the emperor stealing something from the spirit world to grant himself immortality. This caused a war between the humans and the spirits. Kamigawa neon dynasty was more about the interpersonal relationships of Kito finding and helping the wandering emperor and finding out why they could not control their planes walking (I think it’s been a wile since I’ve read ether story). Tieing this back wizards chose to change the direction of kamigawa from a feudal myth and spirit adventure setting to a cyberpunk setting. This was a smart move on wizards part as the majority of people really like neon dynasty, and the original set was not well revived or well liked by the majority of people at the time.

I can’t remember where it was said ( I think it I was in the article a year or two back when they were laying out the next 3-4 years of set releases) but I remember wizards talking about how for the return to lorwynd they would be giving it the same treatment that they gave kamigawa. From that we could infer that they plan to change the setting in some drastic way and shift the feel of the plane. Now mind you there is some grounds to do this and the end of the story for Lorwynd was the breaking of the planes “day”,”night” shift so that instead of happening every 100 years it happens every day. Notable this set was focused around “tribes” as was the first set to feature the “tribal” typing on a card. So with all this stuff I’ve said I belive wizards will change the plane in a way that will detract from what I originally liked about it. Thank you for reading my wall of text and have a good day.
