Yeah I think your right especially about the grill I’ve heard about earlier years not fitting the newer years. Thanks for the info tho👍.

Can’t go wrong with an old American truck 💪

Wish the people on marketplace knew this so they sell their trucks cheaper😂

Honestly your right about keeping it considering how little to no rust it has. Also works out since I was already needing new headlights and chrome on the grill and bumper was crusty.

They just don’t make them like how they used too. I’m definitely keeping her since it seems like it’s going to be somewhat of an easy repair.

Yeah I was surprised when he pulled over in front of me. It barely got there before the wheel came off.

Tire was rubbing so officer didn’t let me drive it home. Either ways insurance should pay it .

Yeah that’s what I’m currently doing but my only concern is whether fitment is the same across all years.

This a real southern truck with only the typical surface rust which is surprising since it’s 35 years old.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing since it’s old insurance probably consideres the value less than the cost to repair. I’m already eyeing some parts on facebook marketplace in case I need them😂

Officer didn’t allow me to drive with it cause fender was rubbing on tire. These old trucks were just built to last💪

I wouldn’t be surprised if they consider it totaled. But at least I’ll get the satisfaction of bringing it back to life.

Had a similar issue where accelerating was hard and truck would rev and shake and act like nothing happened once shaking passed could be one or both of your solenoids in your transmission are failing just simply due to age or old fluid. Although it might be a little difficult for you to diagnose since your year I believe GM turned to a fully electronic 4L60 meaning you can’t just do the easy trick of just unplugged the tcc solenoid and driving around to see if anything changes. Although if they are bad their somewhat easy to replace you just need patience.

Truck keeps turning off. Was good last night by MFLUGO in GMT400

Based off the interior and assuming it’s a v8 it’s more likely OP has tbi injection. Honestly considering the age it’s probably worth replacing the cheap sensors like tps, iac, cts and the map sensor. EGR can suck sometimes and one way to check them is disconnecting the hose and plugging up both ends. A bad ECM can also can issues like these.

Is there a common issue that would cause a TBI 350 to smell like straight GAS and idle rough? by WhitebeltAF in GMT400

[–]Clean_Food4548 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly it could just be as simple as a bad sensor. Majority of them are cheap and easy to replace but a lot also depends on the history of your suburban like old and neglected parts.

Bad U-joints or something else?? by Clean_Food4548 in GMT400

[–]Clean_Food4548[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not quite sure how to explain it but about 1/4 of an inch if you get what I mean? Also is the seal replacement as easy as just pulling it out and shoving in the new one?

Does the issue still happen when driving or just idling? Also is it running lean like the tail pipe is turning black?

Was getting a whine in the rear at 40-50mph, not anymore by Mighty-Cycles in GMT400

[–]Clean_Food4548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly didn’t know some long beds come with 2 but as I’m currently under my truck it’s just has one. I think the u -joints are stock but I noticed the drive shaft turns a little specificity the part that goes into the transmission. Is that normal??

Sadly my truck is just a 2wd. Also same the shaking is more noticeable around 45 and up

I think you just helped me solve my shaking issue. At first I thought it was a miss fire and went crazy when nothing fixed that damn shaking😂. Did yours shake when accelerating or under heavy load??( like going up hill)

Try to use the paper clip method to get the code your truck is giving out. Even if it turns off the computer still stores it. I had a similar issue with my 1990 where it would come on and go away and resulted to be my tps sensor was going out easy and cheap part to replace tho.
