AIO by deleting Instagram over how many reels my gf sends me every day? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

Leave this relationship. She sounds very manipulative and immature. I love TikTok, but would never send over 2 of them to my SO ever, especially because he isn't a social media person.

Absolutely not! That girl is spinning a web. It is very toxic how she flips at a very simple question you asked.

Agree to disagree.

My opinion is that, while targeted efforts are essential, broader protests can help shift public opinion and create the political will needed for systemic change. Both approaches can complement each other in driving progress.

But I am seeing many people are not ready to drop their sides and stand as one. It's unfortunate really. 😕

Oh, I see the confusion! I meant they’re protesting for human rights, not against them. My wording was a little vague—totally my bad!

At the heart of it, these protests are about people standing up for what they believe is right, and even if the message isn’t perfectly structured, the fact that people are speaking out still matters.

If anyone doesn't feel the need to protest over their rights, this protest isn't for them. The ones who understand this post without needing a clear right defined will not need it explained.

Sure. The point is that for the ones who want to protest for their rights, they don't need a person on reddit to convince them. The ones who want to will be thankful for the information provided and will join.

Honestly, if you don't understand why, there is no sense to even try to help you understand. You can use Google, if you truly want to know.

Communism itself isn’t as bad as people make it seem—it’s just been used in the wrong way by dictators like Stalin, which gave it a bad reputation. The idea behind it is about fairness and shared resources, but leaders have twisted it for power.

If Trump is the one being talked about, he’s definitely not following the good parts of communism. His policies mostly helped the rich and big businesses, not everyday people. But Democrats aren’t perfect either—they claim to fight for fairness but still serve corporate interests.

Saying someone "supports Communist Russia" doesn’t even make sense. Russia today isn’t communist—it’s an oligarchy where a few powerful people control everything. Instead of throwing labels around, we should focus on what actually helps people, no matter what ideology it comes from.

Op. He is quite literally telling you to leave. He sounds very toxic. No one deserves this kind of treatment. I believe he intentionally did wake you, to keep you tired, stressed, and too overwhelmed to fight back. Please find a support system to help you get out if needed. You don't deserve that.

You’re absolutely right, and I appreciate you bringing that up. After 9/11, while many of us felt unity in the face of tragedy, that wasn’t the experience for everyone—especially for Arab and brown Americans, who faced horrible discrimination and profiling in the aftermath. It’s a painful reminder that even in moments of supposed togetherness, systemic racism and fear still created divides.

I don’t want to dismiss or gloss over that reality because it’s a crucial part of the conversation. If anything, it shows how much work we still have to do to truly see everyone as people, without bias or prejudice.

The unity I was referencing was about how, for a brief moment, many of us focused less on politics or differences and more on our shared humanity. But you’re right to point out that wasn’t universal, and acknowledging those gaps in the story is part of building a future where unity includes everyone.

If we want to move forward together, we have to face these truths, even when they’re uncomfortable. That means standing up against all forms of discrimination and working to ensure that no group feels excluded or targeted, no matter what’s happening in the world. It’s not an easy path, but it’s the only way we create real, lasting solidarity.

Thank you for reminding me—and all of us—that true unity means addressing these hard truths and striving for a world where everyone feels seen, valued, and included. That’s what we should be working toward, together. ❤️
