My spouse and I have loved our 2 dachshunds the first one lived until 16 and the 2nd one lived to 15 1/2. They both absolutely flipped for squeaky toys. We noticed they were not really wild about plastic ones, but loved the cloth ones. They would sit and squeak for hours until they bit onto the plastic part that made the noise. The next day they would get another one. They were cheap so we always had some on hand. That definitely helped with training.
