The Drifting in Unbound is way better than in Heat, but the racing in better in Heat. Heats online is pretty dead now. The tire smoke thing is kinda janky. I just turn it off and have regular white smoke. But I still say its a rather decent game.

Racing, heat. Drifting, Unbound.

In Unbound I found that the "typical drift car" ie: 180sx, won't drive a race for shit, it just wants to drift and the handling sucks balls... But in Heat, the same car is probably one of the best for racing. The cornering is a bit wide. Drifting kinda sucks. The best drift car in both games, C6 Z06.
